What is Super in a Hero ?
I grew up reading comics and watching films about masked superheroes. As I grew older, I developed a preference for Batman, who is a mere human and does not possess superpowers. In cases such as this, the man behind the mask is what makes the hero, and not the superpowers that he or she may have acquired through their DNA or a freak accident.

Batman is driven to fight for truth andjustice because of a traumatic childhood incident involving the loss of his parents. As a powerful billionaire, successful businessman and caring philanthropist, he is hardly the kind of person gou would imagine would dress in a tight-fitting, black, leather sunt and a cape to fight crime. Nevertheless, this handsome, well-built man in his mid-thirties, who wears a suit and tie when he is not in disguise, is the ‘Dark Knight’. Besedes being very intelligent and inventive, he is also determined, committed and fearless. These chracter traits, combined with his strong moral code and charitable and compassionate nature, go a long way towards distinguishing him from other heroes.

To my mind, Batman represents man's ability to achieve greatness while he pursues justice. He helps us define what heroism is by showing us that there is a hero in all of us. His commitment to justice and acts of bravery remind us that inherent qualities, such as intelligence and determination, can be used to benefit not only oneself but also others in the community.

People may be drawn to young Spiderman, powerful Superman or enigmatic Wolverine. However, Batman is my superhero because he is proof that i can be anything i want to be, regardless of my disadvantages.
