The hidden truth

Cornelia: I guess necklace may not indicate so much of the witch after all.

Samantha: it is broken, Cornelia!!

Cornelia: such a shame. Because just think what others will think when they find out you two girls did nothing for almost five hours.

Jenna: we didn’t do nothing!! We had to find out how the locket was broken and what’s inside of it.

Cornelia: just think how Lena Avenue and the boys would say when they see this. I feel sorry for the two of you……..perhaps I can help?

Samantha and Jenna made no attempts to speak. Instead Smantha became extremely suspicious and tried her best to read Cornelia’s body language.

Samantha: you broke it!!

Jenna: Samantha what are you talking about?

Samantha: don’t you see?? It wasn’t like that before, Cornelia is the one who broke it.

Jenna: Cornelia, why would you do that! Is it true?

Cornelia: gee………...um……I don’t know. I mean you girls are such good friends, but only to the group.

Samantha: I just knew something was wrong with that girl. The way she showed up and how fast the others adapted her in.

Jenna: yeah…...it is like she used some sort of enchantment.

Cornelia: the others are back. You two better keep your mouths shut - not say a word about this to anyone.

Samantha: of course we will tell them. Tell them you are the one who broke it and that you are the one who lied to us all.

Cornelia: just think how the boys would react when they find out you scratched me.

Jenna: that wasn't such a big deal……………..Oh my!!

Cornelia pulled up her sleeves. The exact spot where Samantha grabbed her arm and it started bleeding. However, after two seconds it stopped and left a huge scar.

Cornelia: you tell them about me and I tell them about you.

Hayden: Samantha and Jenna, have you both figured out how Raven’s locket works yet?

Jenna: um…we didn’t find anything.

The others were back from a long day. Jenna and Samantha soon realized they had to lie for Cornelia otherwise she would put them in hot water. However it wasn’t that easy, mainly because the two girls both hates her so much.

Lena: Jenna!! Samantha!! We were gone for almost six hours and all you two ever did was stare?

Samantha: it wasn’t…….that simple.

Matthew: what do you mean it wasn’t that simple? You were given a very small task at a very long period of time. Any idiot can work out how it works.

Jenna: not us!

Darcy: what two hopeless cases!

Lena: calm your soul. Darcy. Cornelia did most of it I would have imagined. At least we have someone who can support us in this.

Cornelia: I was the one who found out the crack from the locket was a drop.

Darcy: a drop?

Cornelia: yeah……someone must have thrown it to get rid of it or something.

Hayden: I must have assumed either Samantha or Jenna did it.

Jenna: it definitely wasn’t us!

Cornelia: yeah it was. I saw them throw it because they thought it can give them a sign.

Darcy: WHAT A BUNCH OF IDIOTS!

Matthew: that is why I always disapprove when it comes the girls or Jake!!!

Lena: anyways, how can we fix it?

Samantha: I have no idea.

Problems with cliques
Samantha: Lena, we need to tell you something.

Lena: are you going to be more specific or are we playing riddles?

Jenna: you know that girl, Cornelia…how did she get here?

Lena: what do you mean?

Samantha: as in have you ever met her parents or any of her inheritage?

Lena: no, we only met her last month, remember?

Jenna: do you know her religion?

Lena: of course not. Every time we speak about the bible or church she is never around.

Jenna: then how can you or the boys be sure that she is supporting us. She could be some sort of spy!

Samantha: yeah……...she doubts us so much. I am not saying she is malicious or anything but she has said some very strange stuff.

Lena: oh please!! You two just can’t handle the fact that she found out something you guys didn’t.

Jenna: you know, that wasn’t even the truth. The locket wasn’t broken because we threw it……..we didn’t even throw it did we, Samantha?

Samantha: of course not! She had it up to fool you all into a trap.

Lena: then how was it broken?

The two girls waited for a few minutes, looking around to see if anyone was there and spoke so quietly Lena could hardly hear.

Jenna: I think……….she was the one……...who broke it.

Lena: oh stop it!!! I know it doesn’t feel good to find nothing but that doesn’t make someone who finds something bad.

Samantha: we are not making this up. Even she admitted it herself when we said it.

Jenna: you are getting tricked by someone and ignoring your friends. We know what is going on.

Lena: so if I go and ask her would she say so?

Samantha: that is the point. She doesn’t want any of you to know that she broke the locket otherwise…………..

Lena: I actually find the way you two are treating someone disrespectful and unequal. You are making lies and putting them on someone’s head.

Jenna: it is not a lie. Samantha and I both saw it and heard her admit it.

Lena: are you prepared to swear on oath?

Samantha: NO.

Lena: I am done with you. Whatever you two may think she is - we are not going to assume it was her because of you.

Two years later
Hayden: if there isn’t anyone who could lure us easier than Cornelia Avenger.

Lena: we were such fools back then. Can’t believe we thought she was for real.

Matthew: we were fourteen years old, what did you expect?

Lena: I mean……...anyone obviously could tell that she was not an ordinary human being.
