Miso gets lost in the woods -by Lily
Once, there was a little orange kitten. His name was Miso (like the soy paste). He roamed the organic gardens of his human family, and ate the catnip they grew for him. He was always happy and playful.
One day, while this little Miso was wandering the grasses of his field, he saw something quite strange. It was what you or I might call a field mouse, yet he had did not think it such a simple thing. The this tiny thing moved and hopped around so enticingly, it made hi want to... POUNCE! He caught the mouse in his claws.
The field mouse cried in fright, but Miso would not let him go. He asked the strange creature what he was, but the mouses high sqeeking made Miso's ears hurt, and he couldn't understand a thing he said. Then Miso had to let the mouse go to cover his ears, but as soon as he did, off ran the field mouse!
They ran across the grassy meadow, but before Miso could catch the mouse, they were in the woods. Through the trees they ran, and Miso was getting further and further from, though he didn't know it. Then suddenly the mouse was gone, down a small hole, and Miso was left alone in the woods.
Miso walked and searched for his home, but he couldn't remember the way back. It was beginning to grow dark, and he was not accustom to being outside this late. As the sun sank behind the hill, Miso was about to give up when he heard a little voice say, "I can help you, but please don't eat me."
Miso was startled, but then upon looking down, he saw the very same field mouse from before.
"I can help you, if you will help me," said the field mouse, shaking his tiny body with every word. "How could i help you?" Said Miso. "You are bigger than I, and the owls want to eat me, but you are much larger, so they will not get you. I can show you the way home, if you let me walk under you for protection."
Miso agreed, and he let the mouse walk under him as he directed Miso through the forest, and across the meadow, to the house where Miso lived.
"Thank you." Said Miso, " from now on, I will not chase another animal like you again." The mouse nodded to Miso, before he ducked into another small hole that must have been his home.
Miso went home and had a nice bowl of warm milk. The day was over, and he was back home with his family. To this day, Miso has not chased another field mouse.
