Blindsided - A Love Story 4
Welcome Steemit friends this is a story about a woman who had an absolutely horrible marriage and was more than abused. She was so terrified by her ex-husband that she no longer wanted to be with a man ever again. But then she found...or, did he find her.
In the previous parts, Daniel manages to learn the name of a woman he met 18 months ago with whom he has had a long affair that he wants to result in a permanent relationship. She is wonderful but very afraid from a marriage that was horribly abusive.

As always, when he awoke, she was gone like she had never been there. She never accidentally left anything. She never made any hints that she wished to move in with him or he with her. He had dropped her off at an apartment building, which he thought was hers but was it? He was never invited inside. He was told he would not be invited inside.
He thought she was a woman with so many boundaries, so many walls, but maybe that was never it. If she weren’t so very beautiful and did not adore him, did not seem to have the greatest of times when they were together, he would have dumped her a long time ago. He even thought she was married but she was not. She was divorced. Over the time they were together, he asked her why she wanted no serious relationship and her response was, ’We have a serious relationship to me. I suffered very cruel abuse after I was married. I will never let that happen again.’ He had asked her about what had happened and she had told him, somewhat haltingly. It took several dates but he listened as he thought it would help her to bond to him. He thought about it for a moment…
He looked at the clock and it was nine pm. The closing of the door must have waked him. The bed was still warm where she had slept. So, she had slept a full eight hours next to him this time. That was a first. She had never stayed with him this long of a time and always left him while he recovered.
It was too late to go to the jewelry store. He could have jumped up to follow her to give her one last kiss but his instinct told him, this time he knew she would be back, would want to meet him.
Daniel was hungry but decided he would go for a run first before he ate. It would be more than a week before he heard from her again. The ring would be engraved with “To Sharalynn with all my love forever Daniel,” and would wait in a blue velvet box for her to accept an invitation to as fine a dinner as he could afford. Daniel planned as he dressed.
Some people were afraid to run the streets and along the river at night but Daniel never feared at all. In some ways, it was better because it was much quieter with no traffic to and from the river parkway.
This was actually how they had met but in the daytime, a Saturday morning eighteen months ago. Her long hair in a ponytail that flopped down around the middle of her back while she ran by. He had not seen her face but had to have a look at the figure that just passed him.
