EXORCIST- Episode 3

in #story6 years ago (edited)

The house had been badly burnt. A lot of rubble and debris were scattered everywhere. A portion of the rubble moved and Charlie raised his arm. Richard who had already gotten up from where he landed on a trash can went over to help Charlie. The tall decorative grass below had cushioned Charlie's fall but the impact still hurt. Most of the grass was already burnt as the burning debris from the house had fallen over them.

'Thanks' Charlie said as Richard helped him onto his feet.

'It's nothing. I'm gonna have to stick with you from now on anyway.' Richard remarked.

'Stick with me?' Charlie asked. 'Wait. Wait. Wait. This was just one job, you're not sticking with me or anything.'

'You're the ghost guy, i've got to stick to you.' Richard said. 'I couldn't see those things and then you drop this bowl, then they're visible. That's classic ghost busters.'

'Dude. The demons in the house are gone. You're free of them just get yourself another house. A better house. A modern house.' Charlie suggested.

'Come on. That house has been passed down in my family for a very long time.' Richard said

'No wonder there were demons in there.' Charlie remarked. 'Look. You're fine. The demins weren't out to get you. The house was the target, now it's destroyed. You're free.'

'I am?' Richard said, thinking.

Richard was deep in thought while Charlie was about to walk away when a white ghost like apparition appear before the two of them.

'I AM THE DEMON OF THE HOUSE AND YOU HAVE TO PAY ME RENT.'

A few minutes later and a smiling Richard was driving Charlie and the invisible trickster in his out-of-date volks wagen.

Charlie had a sullen expression to him. He had hoped to get rid of Richard after his house burnt. But Lucky's trick had led Richard to believe he was actually being haunted. Now he owed Richard both a house and an exorcism which wan't going to happen.

Richard had apparently hired Charlie thinking he was a ghost hunter because he thought the ghost of his old tenants were haunting him. It turned out the ghost were searching for the contract which Charlie was also interested in for some reasons.

Lucky sat on the dash board,an ankle crossed over one knee as he watched Charlie. The trickster was only visible to Charlie and would have caused a road accident if Richard could see the face he was making.

Richard drove into the garage of a house in the second phase. He had to drag Charlie into the house.
A slender lady with an afro welcome them with a smile.

'Angela, this is Charlie. Charlie, you heard the name.'
'Welcome Charlie, hope Richard didn't give you any trouble on the way.'

Charlie thought of telling the nice lady what had happened but he decided it was bad omen to discuss bad things the first time you meet someone. So,he just smiled and said;

'No. But he drives like an old lady.'

'Tell me about it'. Angela laughed. 'You two smell like you swam in a volcano. Why don't you take a wash in the rest room and tell me about Richard's driving later.'

'Seems fair enough'.Charlie replied.

Richard had been distracted, watching a football match showing on TV he hadn't heard any of their conversation. It took a few pokes to get him out of his trance.

After Richard and Charlie had washed, they came out to a dinner table set by Angela. It was a typical feast because there was enough to eat for two days and basically there was almost all type of food.

'I'm having some friends over.'
Angela said before the guys could dig in.

As if on cue,the door bell rang and Angela went to admit her visitors.

Charlie thought it was a bad idea to stay where there were many people. Lucky hadn't caused any form of mischief only because he was asleep and he was on a demon hunt. The demons he saw earlier were merely scouts seeking out what Charlie believed was the pilgrim's manuscript- a contract worth a fortune if the right buyers were involved.
