Kaltim-5 project has started its construction since 2011 and its implementation was inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on October 25, 2012. This project is projected to replace the old Kaltim-1 plant that used inefficient gas consumption. The production capacity of Kaltim-5 is planned to reach 3,500 tons of ammonia and 2,500 tons of urea per day. Until the end of 2012, the progress of the project has reached 35.71%. The project is implemented by IKPT and Toyo consortium contractors
The coal boiler construction that was started in 2011 has entered the stage of final settlement. This project aims to reduce the natural gas consumption of kaltim-5 plant and the existing plants by utilizing coal as an energy source for steam generator boilers. Its production capacity is 2x220 ton steam per hour. The total progress until the end of the year is 99.85%. The project contractor is PT IKPT.
