in #story7 years ago

Hello Friends,

Here I want to share one story with you all which I read and remember, I try to write & post it here on my blog.

"The One That Got Away"

Intro:
She did not miss a moment of that. She was looking deep into his eyes all this time. Deep, brown eyes, with dark brown cornea. Something he could not do when he was looking at her.

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times."

It was the season of broken hearts. It was the season of the first loves. It was the season of broken hearts looking for someone to heal the wounds. It was the season of the first kisses stolen in the shade of the trees. It was October, when the sun and the breeze decided to work together to find the balance and let people take long walks, the dogs lounging and the flowers bloomed.

It was October. The college party had just finished and the exams were not due for a few more months. While everyone else had entered into a relaxed state of mind, she was running around her campus, managing her classes, extracurricular activities, catching up with friends and teachers, just like any other day. Despite the look on his face, he managed to steal quick moments to stop and make a brief conversation with everyone in his path: the security guard at the boarding gate, the parking attendant and the gardener. There was a rapid pace in his steps, confidence in his gait and a faint smile on his face. A pretty alive girl that any observer from a distance would say.

He had a stack of papers in his hand with his arm wrapped around his chest. Drafts and presentations of the articles of the students for the magazine of the university of which she was an editor. The tug was a little too close. An unconscious action, perhaps due to his love for the written word.

While running to the small stationery to pick up some folders, she saw him approaching her. His footsteps slowed down gently, like a beautiful symphony that vanishes. Slow and magical They both looked at each other. Weak smiles of acquaintances. His shoulders relaxed as he felt the familiar comfort. Like the one of two souls who return home.

'Hey,' he said, with the same light smile that fit him so well. The right corner of its mouth rises slightly higher than the left, deepening the dimple in the right cheek.

'Hello! How are you? **"he replied, corresponding to the smile, deepening the dimple in his left cheek, an image of a poetic mirror.

'I'm just going to my class, I think I'm late, but it should not be a problem, I'm sure the professor has not showed up,' he said. 'What are you doing today?'

'You have just finished the articles. I have some more tickets today. I'll read them once and then you'll have a look, 'she replied.

The magazine was a catalyst, that united them both. Both took an extra interest in him as he gave them a reason to interact and work together. Sit down together. Close. And feel at home. Sometimes, even without uttering a word.

"I think we'll have to talk to the printer once, it seems that it's going to give us problems, the change in the number of pages and the quality of the paper are going to be a big thing," he said, trying to repress the underground currents and choose Deliberately talk about work instead.

He looked her deeply in the eyes, as if he always seemed to do it, as if he read her mind and asked, "Did he talk to you? Are you giving him trouble already?", With a tone of concern, protective concern as if killing anyone who dared to frown.

'No, no, we can do it together. And ... 'He stopped mid-sentence as it happened.

The breeze was about to hurt. A loose strand of her hair that was hidden behind her ear came loose. Touching his nose and then his lips. She saw his eyes realize, following his trail. He stopped near her mouth, trapped between her lips, stuck there by her wetness. He let her enjoy his momentary glory, admired his prank and then slowly raised his hand, caught it between his forefinger and middle finger, and placed it gently behind her ear. The smile this time on his lips was different. Very different. It reached his eyes.

The sun was playing its part too. It shone brightly in his eyes, causing faint tears, making them moist enough to shine more.

She did not miss a moment of that. She was looking deep into his eyes all this time. Deep, brown eyes, with dark brown cornea. Something he could not do when he was looking at her. Yes, this was his moment. I knew it would not be for long and planned to savor every minute. The satisfaction of appearing as a smile on his lips. Sadly, it ended earlier than she expected. His eyes, as if sensing his probes, were thrown back, looking directly at hers, almost to catch her in the act. They locked themselves in hers before she could take them and keep them there. And everything seemed to have stopped.

For a stranger that happens, they would not be more than a few seconds on the clock, but for them, it was eternity. A moment, whose memory could keep them awake at night, even after years. One moment, that was a balm that could heal every little wound they had in their souls. One moment, that told their hearts what their lips could never say. A moment, which some poets had captured in only one paragraph, some in volumes of books. One moment, that would be the last thing that would happen when they closed their eyes on his deathbed.

It was Love.
