Five minute freewrite - "Toilet"

in #story7 years ago

From https://steemit.com/freewrite/@mariannewest/day-66-5-minute-freewrite-prompt-toilet - and somehow I can hear her laughing....

"ohgawd, ohgawd, ohgawd," he chanted as he jogged as quick as he could in his condition. It clearly was not a good day.

Of course, the door was locked. Dammit, Jim always locked up when he was done for the day - it can't be that late, can it?

A gurgling noise caught his instant attention. Can't be good. Can't wait to go back and get a key - what else is around here....

A quick look around spotted an old weight lifting bar as the most likely tool. Luckily there were no plates on it just then. A heave and a ho and away the glass went. An arm thrust through the gap-toothed grin, a flick of the wrist, and the door opened. Oh, good.

More quick steps over the glass shards took him deeper into the dingy room. A light switch - there! - but the room didn't light up. Oh, boy, not good.

He knew it was waiting, somewhere back in the darkness, but didn't know exactly where. And the lights were off. Not a good day. Yanking out his cel phone just made the day all the better as it slipped out of his hands and clattered away under something big in the darkness. There goes that bright idea.

Couldn't wait.... Got to find it. Doing the blind-man shuffle, still with a real urgency, heading into the dim, crowded area......

(and... time)
