BANDA ACEH - Almost a week I tamper with and >trace asbabul nuzul "Desah Arafah" alias Blang Padang. Finally I found the writings of Karel Frederik Hendrik (KFH) van Langen, a Dutch government employee who had been assigned in Kalimantan and West Sumatra. In 1879, he was assigned to the Office of the Governor of Aceh and the conquered areas, Aceh Barat, Aceh Tengah, Aceh Besar. He also financed the printing of monumental book by Snouck Horgronje "Atheheers" (E Gobee and C Adriaanse: 1990). Van Langen had been entrusted four times as an interim official of the Governor of Aceh (from 1898 to 1895) until he died on April 18, 1915 in the City of Ede, Gelderland, The Netherlands.

Van Langen wrote some of his experiences Kliksatudotch. Among them were "De Inrichting van Het Atjehschee Staatbestur Onder Het Sultanaat" in 1888 which was later translated by prof. Abu Bakar Aceh under the title of the Governance of Aceh during the sultanate. In this book mentioned that Blang Padang and Blang Punge are "Umeung Musara" (wakaf land) Baiturrahman Great Mosque which can not be traded, or made inheritance. And no party can disrupt the claim of the status of the existence of their property.

Tanoh meusarah is used as a source of income Imuem Masjid Raya Baiturrahman. If from the wakaf land of this mosque is not enough to finance the Great Mosque Baiturrahman, then assisted by zakat paddy or other goods from residents who live around the Great Mosque Baiturrahman. Wakaf land results are specifically for the maintenance of mosques, such as muazzin, bilal, khatib and other needs. If there is a heavy repair then asked for help on the population.

Once, when the drums of the Aceh war against the Dutch began on March 26, 1873, the Netherlands made a big mistake in the history of colonial invasion by occupying and burning the Great Mosque Baiturrahman by throwing 12 grenades, on Thursday 10 April 1873. The Acehnese increasingly angry, consequently four days later The Dutch had to pay dearly with the death of General JHR Kohlier on the grounds of the Baiturrahman Great Mosque on April 14, 1873. Dutch soldiers fled to Batavia on 17 April 1873 (Paul van Vier: 1979).

The Netherlands again made its second invasion on December 9, 1873 and January 24, 1874. The Sultanate of Aceh's palace was occupied after Sultan Alaidin Mahmudsyah (1870-1874 AD) left him and evacuated to Lueng Bata. So when Lieutenant General van Swieten announced to the international world that "the kingdom of Aceh, in accordance with the laws of war (humanitarian) belongs to the Kingdom of the Netherlands" (Talsya: 1982).

All personal wealth and assets of the palace were seized and made by the Dutch government in accordance with the law of war law Reght van Over Winning (H. C. Zentgraaff: 1981). This former palace and the personal assets of the Sultan of Aceh are then dominated by Japanese KNIL, such as Kuta Alam, Neusu, Kraton and a number of other assets that have been transferred function today.

But the Great Mosque of Baiturrahman and his wakaf asset, was not seized by the Dutch to be used as the spoils of the right to win the war, as the principle of Reght van Over Winning applies. Because according to this Dutch (war of Aceh with the Netherlands), not a religious war (holy war). So the Baiturrahman Great Mosque which was burned on 10 April 1873 was rebuilt by the Dutch in 1879 by Aceh Governor General K van der Heijden. Van Langen writes in his book, that the land is a land of meusara Masjid Raya Baiturrahman and can not be transferred. (Van Langen: 1888).

Thus, it is clear that the porch of the Baiturrahman Great Mosque was Blang Padang which was once used as a sports field, and in 1981 renamed "Desah Arafah", and the place of the National MTQ arena. Therefore, it is not surprising in Blang Padang from the past to be a place of Eid al-Fitr prayer and Eid al-Adha. Not implemented in other fields because the land belongs to Baiturrahman Great Mosque. And the existence of Blang Padang is the pulse of the life of Masjid Raya Baiturrahman, and in that respect the Dutch respects it.

Following up the mutual claims polemics between the Aceh government and the Iskandar Muda Military Command, and almost every day there are advertisements of support from the district / city government so that the Aceh government can certify Blang Padang land on the Aceh government's name, while the TNI claims it belongs to him. So that needs to be done so that both parties sincerely return the land of Blang Padang as a wakaf asset and become a meusara Masjid Raya Baiturrahman that can be utilized for the public interest as done before.

Actually, there are still many wakaf land in Aceh that still needs to be addressed so as not to switch the function and ownership. The Aceh government should learn about what Baitul Asyi did in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Saudi Arabia. They are able to manage the land of wakaf Aceh has been hundreds of years, although it has so many times dynastic power changed. Until now the results can still be obtained by pilgrims from Aceh who perform the pilgrimage. The Acehnese pilgrims are given the form of money for hajj pilgrimage in accordance with the mandate of waqf in the time of the former kingdom of Aceh.

And, hopefully this article can tame the "desire to control" God's possessions, and Blang Padang can be restored as an asset Baiturrahman Grand Mosque back. Because the Dutch colonizers just really respect him, why we do not.
