RE: 34 Extraordinary Street Photos

@photocontests @juliank It's become clear that many people are uploading photos they didn't take themselves. I suggest you use Tineye and other methods to check the validity of shots before rewarding someone for work that isn't theirs. Best of luck.

I am curious why you believe that some of these photos are plagiarized. Is it because the quality of photos submitted has generally increased, or do you see specific images that you recognize from another photographer? I would certainly not defend anyone who is ripping off the work of others, but that is a pretty serious accusation to make without evidence.

Fully agree with @Jctdesign here, fair enough if you've seen some you know are plagiarized (in the winners selection) but otherwise it's a bit weird to say, myself and plenty of others that enter these contests ARE professionals!

If you know specific ones were stolen shots then please just call them out directly with a link to the original artist.

I try to look for photos where I think it might be stolen. However, when google shows up empty I give everybody the benefit of the doubt. I will look at tineye, also I am always available on discord or steemit.chat when you think someone is stealing somebodies work

This is a job for utopian.io :) They should be able to make something to weed through photos without every photo judge having to do it themselves.

There is a dmca takedown form here:
http://www.dmca.com/FAQ/What-is-a-DMCA-Takedown

I have been watching creatives get plagiarism removed easily with this takedown notice for years. This is a particular concern here since the media cannot be removed after 7 days. So it would be good if there was some type of bot to check photos in the first few days.

These choices are breathtaking and I love the umbrella street by @jpphotography the most.

I hope they are all real candidates and appreciate all you do for these many contests each week. I do not know how you do it!

People are registered with many websites and could potentially have different nicknames! It doesn't mean you are allowed to accuse! Steemit is a new thing! Before that, there were facebook, Flickr and other websites ;)

Yes its true and very hard to deal with. The accounts that do it will get weeded out eventually though especially here on Steemit with the rep system and blockchain transparency.
