Morning Light on a Woodpecker

I had thought that our local woodpeckers sought water up on poles like this but this particular bird drew my attention with the classic beak-tapping we all associate with woodpeckers - Except it was ringing off the metal as it would like some sort of alarm bell going off. I am amazed it didn't feel the difference between wood and metal and wondered why it continued to strike the metal in this fashion, but it continued ringing out as I stopped for some photos and then went on by.

The light quality is wonderful at this early morning time, similarly as it is just before sundown.

These were taken at 07:20am using my Canon PowerShot SX60 HS

thats cute.. woodpecker. . are they attatcking people? ? just wondering. . i haven't see a wood pecker in personal

They are not at all dangerous to people or animals. They don't attack anything. Lovely to watch - and are found in many places so keep your eyes open and you may see another type where you live.

There's so much biodiversity in Costa Rica, it's amazing! Where I live, it's mostly crows, robins, rabbits and squirrels... I did see a hummingbird flutter by once, that was amazing - I guess you get a new species of visitor every day though haha

Thanks and yes the biodiversity here is extraordinary.

It is true the biodiversity is amazing here.

Great colouful sign - perhaps the hummingbird fancies himself as a morning drummer/percussionist ;)

It's a woodpecker not a humming bird 😂 But yes maybe he does 🌈🦋☀️💛☺️Thanks for your comment, lovely to see you again , hope your holiday was awesome.

Ooops - I did mean Woodpecker! My bad :)

Hahaha I kind of thought you did 💛💛💛💛💛

He's a sleepy and intelligent creature. You have created a great photo. You're great.

Thank you for your nice comment

So funny that it was hitting it like an alarm! Basically like a morning rooster.

Pretty crazy.. life in the jungle can be this way sometimes 😂😂

Thank you for your kind remark.

pretty bird, awesome capture it ;)

Thank you very much

That is an excellent quality shot, way up close too! Very impressive, love the orange-red coloring of the birdies back of head. And the vibrant red on top.

Cheers.

Thank you very much for your thoughtful comment 💛☀️🦋🌴☺️

perfect shot for a beautiful woodpecker

Thank you very much

Woodpecker strikes the tree trunk with his beak at regular intervals. By evaluating the reflected voices, he discovers at what point the cudgel is caterpillar. So it does not bother to drill in vain.
I think he could not find the tree in the city he was in :)
nice photos congratulations

Thanks for your comment. That is true yes when they tap on trees These birds live in paradise surrounded by trees on every side and the rainforest so it is not for lack of real trees they do this.
