2018 Subaru Forester Black Edition
An all new Forester?
Unfortunately the newly released 2018 Forester is not the all new car we have all been expecting for. Instead the car is a mild refresh which brings an entirely new trim level on the market. On top of that Subaru also adjusted the pricing on the car in order to make it a bit of a better deal. While at first it may not seem like it considering the price increased by $200 across the range, they added quite a few features as extras. Because of that the base 2.5i version of the car starts at $23,710 while its CVT versions costs $1,000 more. The Premium model starts at $26,510 for the manual and $27,100 which is a slightly better deal than its cheaper counterpart.
The new trim level.
With this small update they also released the 2018 Subaru Forester Black Edition. This is actually a package which can be had on the 2.5i Premium version of the car. Subaru set the price at $1,150 which may seem much for a design package. However, there are quite a few interesting features available which make it well worth the money.
The exterior.
The regular car is identical to its predecessor but the Black Edition model brings a few exclusive features into the mix. Despite being a Black Edition model, Subaru actually released the car in a few different available color choices. There is a dark gray metallic, crystal white pearl, ice-silver metallic as well as crystal black silica. All of these go extremely well with the subtle exterior upgrades Subaru did in order to elevate the design. The car gets 18 inch wheels finished in a gloss-black color as well as black-accented inserts throughout. The fog-lamp surrounds, the mirrors, badges as well as the grille have all been painted with a deep black color. The only piece of chrome has been left on the grille surround but this actually goes well with the rest of the car. The big news on the exterior are the LED headlights which have been offered before on the top end Limited edition cars.
Inside the cabin.
The 2018 Subaru Forester Black Edition also received small upgrades inside which are meant to make the driver feel like in a much more expensive car. The Black Edition gets an exclusive black-cloth upholstery with faux leather side-bolsters as well as a real-leather wrapped steering wheel and shift-knob. The CVT version of the car also gets aluminum paddle shifters behind the steering wheel which were previously available only on the range-topping XT 2.0 turbo models. The package also includes the all-weather package which comes with a better management software for Subaru’s all wheel drive system as well as a hill-descent control system.
