Places like China, Russia, and Iran impose heavy restrictions on what content citizens can interact with. This limits the free internet to VPN and Tor users, both of which require additional software to use. Upcoming laws threaten to deepen that divide by banning VPNs in even more countries.

With Substratum, any member has the ability to vote content up or down. This allows people to identify bad players like child pornography or terrorism and get them removed from the network. This is a truly decentralized internet and the next logical step in our digital journey.

Universal Crypto Payments
Substratum will soon provide CryptoPay as a simple to use API (much like PayPal) for any website to deploy. You'll be able to use your hard-earned cryptocurrencies on eCommerce sites all over the internet.

CryptoPay transactions are performed by converting the currency you wish to pay with into Substrate (SUB), then converting Substrate into whichever currency the online vendor wishes to receive as payment.

Long-term plans include a terminal that can be sold to brick and mortar businesses which would allow you to pay with your crypto at physical shops.
