Success Secret - Have A Bias Toward Action

One of the traits that I see in many successful people, is that they have a “bias toward action”.

What this means is that, rather than talk about or discuss things or argue about things, they’re busy taking action.

They’re not complaining on Facebook about something. They’re taking action.

They’re not sitting around watching TV or reading social media or watching YouTube videos trying to gather what makes sense to them… they’re taking action.

They’re not wasting time in any number of ways that we could easily waste time in today’s society, they’re busy taking action.

So, how do you develop this mindset of taking action?

I think you develop it over time.

You have to catch yourself when you’re not taking action and you have to move yourself toward taking action.

The way that happens is you start with a daily list.

You have your daily list of things you want to accomplish and then you prioritize them.

Once you’ve got that prioritized list, now you are careful to watch yourself.

You’re mindful of whenever you’re spending too much time on social media, text messages, phone calls or whatever it is that takes time away from your business.

By being conscious of that, you are aware and you know when to turn that off and get back to action.

The biggest time sucks are social media and it is easy to get wrapped up in a conversation or an argument or discussion that people are having about a particular topic.

Nine times out of ten, (maybe even 99 times out of 100) that discussion is not going to lead to a moneymaking result for you, right?

Nine times out of ten, that discussion will be a great way to waste time, though!

What you want to do is you want to always be aware and catch yourself and check yourself.

When you’re just starting this new discipline and this new habit of being aware, it might be good to set a little timer on your phone so that maybe every 10 minutes you have an alarm go off.

And, at that 10-minute mark when the alarm goes off, check yourself.

Are you on social media?
Are you wasting time?
Are you doing things that are not productive to your business?

If you do that, then over time, you’ll eventually have this ingrained in your own mind so that every few minutes you’ll mentally check yourself and you’ll see: “Am I doing something that’s productive, that’s profitable, that’s going to make me money?” Or. “Am I doing something that’s wasting time?”

The reason this is so important is that time has a way of compounding on itself - both positive and negative.

So, if you do negative activities, this has a way of exploding and compounding on itself, so that all of a sudden, not only are you not doing anything productive, but you’re actually really way behind.
You’re almost in a death spiral.

Likewise, if you do positive, profitable activities, then this has a way of compounding itself in a positive way, because your results compound on your previous results.

The use of your time is the most critical and the most precious thing that you have, for those reasons, because one unit of time does not equal one unit of profit. One unit of time added up and multiplied and compounded can easily equal many multiples of unit of profit!

Be super-stingy with your time...

Be super careful with how you use your time and always have a bias towards action.

Be careful who you hang around with - do they love wasting time? Are they unaware of how precious time is?

Always be the person taking action, not the person talking about those taking action.

Always be the person doing it, not the person talking about the people doing it.

Always be the person leading. Don’t be the person following!
