RE: Building the road to success - Chapter 1

in #success7 years ago

That's why I flagged the post. This author isn't using the correct tags. There's no ART to see here. No MUSIC to listen to. In my opinion, a photo of a man holding a guitar doesn't qualify to be placed under the GUITAR-TRAIL tag either.

I also disagree with rewards. Reason being: This author purchased this slot on the trending page. Evidence of this can be found in his wallet here on Steemit.com. Many new members are being misled into thinking this post is here near the top of the trending page because it is popular when that is not the case. There is no mention of the usage of paid for votes within the post and this post does not appear to be a PROMOTION of any kind so that could mean this author might be using those paid vote services to intentionally mislead other members to vote for this post with the hopes of earning a profit from the voters ignorance of the situation. This author was also warned and blacklisted by one service for abusing these paid for vote services and has since purchased more votes for multiple posts now cluttering up the trending page.

Sort:

I don't think this guy have bad intentions, but yeah, he is realy all over my trending page.

Those bots are used to help promote things, which is a form of advertising. There's a reason why nearly every promotion/advertisement on the internet, on paper, and on television is labeled as such.

Technically, this post could be considered paid programming(a form of advertising) because the slot was purchased, but there's no mention of that in the post. That's why I feel this approach is misleading. I feel the consumers of this content should be notified within the post and even the headline.

Advertising is a fact of life. We don't pay Walmart for leaving a flyer in our mailbox though. This author could advertise this "book", then people could decide if visiting his blog and supporting the book is something they'd be interested in. I would consider that to be an honest approach to advertising because that's how it's done. No author on this planet advertises each page of their book. This approach is actually quite silly and he's probably going to lose money doing this.

No author on this planet advertises each page of their book.
Hahahahah you made your point, agree totaly. 😂

Thank you for this clarification. I am new and have wondered how certain posts get so many votes and are trending..now I see it is not all organic...

You're welcome. Try not to be discouraged after maybe feeling misled. A post was published recently here: https://steemit.com/steemit/@schattenjaeger/my-suggestion-to-fixing-the-promote-feature

People are trying to come up with better ideas to hopefully help prevent this sort of thing from happening in the future.

not all organic

No, it's more a platform for growing STEEM by any means necessary, than just 'organic' posting.

Quick note, I listened to your archived post of the original song you created for your mother. It's quite beautiful. Your voice is definitely something that should be earning money on DLive. I notice you're not getting the attention you deserve on Steemit. You're more of an artist than post creator.

Prayers for your best; and, I hope the transition to your new place is going smoothly.

Best regards!

Btw, here's a tip! for the beautiful song in the archived post.

Peace.

Hi @mruben! You have received 0.1 SBD tip from @spiritualmatters!

@spiritualmatters wrote lately about: Youtube Cracks Down On "Free-Speech" Abuse Feel free to follow @spiritualmatters if you like it :)

So THIS is what's up! I've been wondering - thinking "am I missing something here??" Thanks for clarifying. I definitely don't appreciate his method of getting his material out.

Yup, you're welcome. What happened was: people started a rumor saying, "It's hard to get noticed on Steemit," then they started offering a "solution" for a fee. Much like how the old snake oil salesmen would show up in a town, get everyone in a panic, then sell their product and skip town the next day. These people bought it hook, line and sinker.

It's hard to get noticed on any kind of social media. It's hard to get noticed in life sometimes. If you work hard enough and become good at what you do, then getting noticed comes naturally. That's life. People seem to think taking a shortcut will help, but it doesn't, and most people know that. These folks taking shortcuts like this push all of the honest people who did well down the list. It's incredibly selfish and where I come from, if you cut in line, people will call you an a$$hole.
