RE: Becoming a System Administrator in 2016
Good article for those starting out in IT. How do you see cloud computing impact? We don't use it yet but are starting to use GIT, BitBucket, etc.

I must tell you as I have told my students when it comes to Cloud Computing and Cloud Storage. In the words of Arthur Weasley "Never trust anything that can think for itself if you can't see where it keeps its brain.” Cloud Computing is great, as long as "You" control the Server Farm where your companies Apps and OS's are running.
In the case of an Internet outage or the Host is suffering a DDOS Attack. You cannot access the needed information at that time. So if a DB is running in a VM say at Rack Space or another vendor. You cannot take payments or add new customers to your DB. If selling phones or adding new Online Customers, this would not be an acceptable outcome.
Your thoughts?
Good point. Our GIT and BitBucket are under my company's domain so as to "own" the software as you said.
Also, most folks "Love" the idea of Cloud Computing and Cloud Storage, as it is cheaper than having all of the "Iron" around. Iron, meaning the Servers in-house. So it can be a significant cost saving. You will need to balance Savings vs Security.
If you have any questions, you can always ask.
