Barcelona

Hello Everyone!

Today I am going to share some pictures of Barcelona that I took while I was traveling around Spain. I went to Barcelona from Warsaw by plane. The trip costed me around $50 with a checked baggage fee and took 3 hours or so. Once you arrive in Barcelona T2 Airport, you will have many opportunities to get to city center. You can take a train from airport to city center for €2, or there is a bus number 46 for €3 and there is an Aerobus for €5. I would suggest you to check schedules of train and bus number 46 before you arrive in. I was lucky and I caught the bus number 46 even I arrived in Barcelona pretty late. The T2 Airport is 40-45 minutes far from the center by bus.

Barcelona is one the most beautiful cities in Europe and it is definitely huge! You shoud buy a multi-journey ticket. I can't remember what I bought exactly but it was some kind of pass. One way ticket fee is €2.20 in Barcelona, so this is actually normal price for most of the countries in eurozone but still to expensive for travelers like me. The public transportation in Barcelona is very well. I took a few busses and metros and all of them showed up on time. If you want to see everything in Barcelona, using public transportation is a need.

I was staying with a friend in Barcelona, and he was living 15 minutes far from the Placa de Catalunya. So I started with Catalonia Square. If you do the same, you will see it is a good idea actually, because Placa de Catalunya is located at the beginning of Las Ramblas. Las Ramblas is a tree-lined street for pedestrians. At the end of Las Ramblas, you will see Columbus Monument, you need to make a left from there to reach La Sagrada Familia.

Do not forget to visit Parc de la Ciutadella and Arc de Triomf, while you are on your way to La Sagrada Familia. I do suggest you to wake up early a little bit and visit it. It was crazy crowded when I was there. The entrance fee is €15 for La Sagrada Familia, I did not get in. La Sagrada Familia has been under construction since 1882 and is not finished yet. The expected finish date is 2026, but I guess it will be finished in 2030. Even construction, it still seems so beautiful! Now I am going to show you another beautiful piece of Gaudi's Art.

Casa Batllo is close to Placa de Catalunya. Actually I would say Place de Catalunya is between Las Ramblas and Casa Batllo. So if you want to visit Casa Batllo, you just need to walk 10 minutes from the square. Casa Batllo was not built by Gaudi, but it was redesigned by Gaudi in 1904 after Josep Batllo bought it in 1900. When you compare Casa Batllo and La Sagrada Familia, you will see many similar points. The main similar point is people trying to enter them and trying to see them. If you want to see inside of the house, you will need to pay €30 and wait a little bit but I think you can buy fast pass ticket for the same price online.

After visiting Casa Batllo, you can let yourself get lost in narrow streets of Barcelona. I believe you will enjoy being in those narrow streets. Once you get tired, you definitely should go for some pinchos. It is a traditional bask food, actually it is a snack but if you eat a lot of them like me, it might be considered as main dish :) There could be any kind of ingredient on a slice of bread but mostly you will see fish or meat and there is toothstick that is used for keeping ingredients all together. People mostly prefer pinchos with wine, but if you are a beer guy, do not hesitate to go for it! Tested and approved, it is also good with beer :).

Tibidabo is one of my favorite places in Barcelona. It is actually pretty far from the center. First you need to take a metro orange line from the center, then you can take a tram or walk to reach cable cars. You can take a cable car that I suggest you to do, or you can talk all the way up to Tibidabo that takes an hour if you choose the right way. Because of my offline map, I got lost while hiking, so it took 2 hours but it was so much fun. Once you reach the top, you will see Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus that is also known as Temple of Tibidabo. Since it is far from the center, it is not as crowded as La Sagrada Familia and Casa Batllo even there is an amusement park. I am going to end this post with a picture of Cathedal of Barcelona. I hope you enjoyed the post.

Amazing photographs, looks like you had fun! :D

Thank you so much. Yes, I had so much fun there! :)

What strange architecture in Barcelona. I've heard that some like it, but to me it looks Gaudi. (<--- get it?) @ironshield

haha :) yeah and you can see more in Barcelona. I couldn't share all of them

No visit to the Camp Nou?

I visited of course! just don't have a nice pic of it :)

I guess the architecture is one of the most outstanding features of Barcelona. I didn't think the entry fees would be so expensive... But the external shots are very impressive anyway. Thank you for sharing, @meertcevik...

since it is very touristic city they take advantage of it. Thank you so much! :)
