“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to."
"I don't much care where –"
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go.”
― Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland
When you live in a world that pretends it operates on concrete rules but in fact, does nothing of the sort, the temptation will be to play along just to fit in. After all, who wants to draw unwanted attention to themselves? But remember, the Cheshire Cat observes sagely to Alice, “We’re all mad here,” and if she weren’t mad too, she wouldn’t be in Wonderland. You have more power over your circumstances than you think. It all depends on whether you treat setbacks as setbacks or if you perceive them as opportunities.
We are all so concerned with making choices that ensure we will suffer the least, thinking in terms of advantage versus disadvantage can cripple our decision making abilities. Because what if temporary discomfort is worth the result? What growth spurt do you know of that’s comfortable? What if no one has any of this figured out? Wouldn’t that make you just as likely to know what’s going on as anyone else? How much power are you going to give others to impact your worldview?
Now is the time to contour the chaos in your head so that it makes sense to you. But first thing’s first. Can you accept more responsibility once you learn no one else is responsible for how you perceive the quality of your life?
Recommended stone: Carnelian to stabilize your feelings of self-worth and confidence to make choices, to attract companions on your path who have your best interests at heart
