“Mary, Mary, quite contrary, how does your garden grow? With silver bells and cockle shells, and pretty maids all in a row.”
—English Nursery Rhyme

One of the great mysteries of the cosmos is when a seed actually decides it’s time to sprout that first little tendril into the earth. Who knows but the seed when the conditions are right to bloom? The sad truth is that the gardener who plants the seed is only responsible for planting it and creating the conditions for growth. But one of the great risks of co-creation is that sometimes everything you do to help a seed along may not be enough to yield. There could be a drought or a flood or something that makes all your hard work feel as though it’s been wasted.

Today is a day to honor the cycles and rhythms of the natural world and to honor yourself as an extension of this world. Sometimes, it’s just about admitting that there is honestly nothing more you can do other than wait, and in some cases, walk away. Perhaps transformation can’t take place with you keeping such a close eye on things. Perhaps this just isn’t the right season. In any case, today, you don’t have to take things personally if your expectations aren’t met by interacting with another person or project that you’ve invested so much time and care. If you consider this time instead as a way to add to your data as opposed to an indictment against your character, there is still something to be learned and applied to the next time you break ground.

Recommended stone: Labradorite to enhance feelings of creativity and prosperity, especially when the going gets tough
