January 17 Daily Tarot Reading
“The work is completed when the anxiety has disappeared. That is the proof of its success.”
Louise Bourgeois, Artist, Interview with David Klugman, 19 Jan. 1992
In the film, Labyrinth, the protagonist, Sarah, has to make it through an otherworldly maze to rescue her little brother. The Goblin King doesn’t make her quest simple, to be sure, but he has very little to do with the nature of the labyrinth itself, which all sorts of creatures call home. From their perspective, they’re just going about their daily lives and here comes Sarah, crashing through on a quest to disrupt their day. Once Sarah accepts her environment and becomes willing to work with the labyrinth, with its inhabitants, its oddities and yes, even its pitfalls, her challenges seem to magically lighten up and she gains the confidence she needs to reach the Goblin Castle and save Toby.
Today, all is not as it seems as you come closer to bringing a personal quest of yours to a close. Remember. You’ve made it this far, so even if you’re stuck, it’s most likely due to falling prey to old thinking patterns. Don’t forget that the real enemy here is not another person or outside influence—it is the illusion of control. Consider that everyone around you is going about their day with no idea that you’re on a quest. Treat the extraordinary components in your life as though they were ordinary and you will start to see some progress. Sure, it might seem incremental at first, but no one ever said that the cosmos played favorites or fair. Might as well have a good time while you’re here.
