Tattoo Contest! by Foxyspirit
I got excited when I saw @foxyspirit 's idea of having a #tattoocontest. I think I was never part of a contest before, well there's always a first time for everything I guess.
I have 3 tattoos but I will just post a picture of one, because there's a huge huge meaning for me. It was my first tattoo ever.
My dad passed away when I was 19. It was the worst day of my life. My dad was everything to me. He used to work a lot, and I mean A LOT.
But when he had some free time we used to do some really nice stuff together.
Sometimes I stop and think that life can be really unfair, my dad had a huge heart and he was all the time helping other people.
I knew a few days after he left this world I really wanted to honor him somehow. I wasn't into tattoos back then, I thought it wasn't for me or I wouldn't look good.
Then one day I decided to move to California.
But I had no idea what tattoo I wanted.
One night I was watching the Lion King (we used to watch Lion King a lot together!), and remember the scene when Simba was running on the fields and he sees his father on the clouds saying "don't forget who you are"?
Then I was like: THAT'S WHAT A I WANT. But I had no idea if a tattoo artist could transform that scene into a tattoo. But then I met the fantastic italian tattoo artist in West Hollywood, Marco Cerretelli, and he did an awesome job on my right arm.

Hope you guys like it :)
WOW! He did do a great job.
I can relate to your feelings but in a different way. My father hasn't passed yet although his health scares me. I can't imagine losing him. It hurts to even try.
My dad also works immensely and I can't wait for him to stop. But there is always something for him to do and that saddens me. When will he do something that he likes to do...
I have my left arm reserved for him. Just under where I have his initials.
The Lion King still gets to me today, I feel the bond you both had.
A great entry! Thank you for entering ^_^
Much respect!
My father told me he was going to retire in 2010. He died in 2009, ironic isn't it? But after he passed away I started to follow all my dreams. We are never ready to lose someone we love, never. And I think a tattoo is a very sweet way to honor the ones we love! I really hope your dad's health will get better so you have more time to create awesome memories with him! And thanks for the contest, it was such an awesome idea :)
I'm glad to see that you are following your dreams. That what our parents would want for us. Im glad you enjoyed the contest. Im thinking up on making a 2nd one with tattoos. It's hard to come up with something lol.
@edupa your words have me all choked up 💖 your tattoo and it's meaning are so beautiful!! The Lion King --- does it to me every single time. 💙💚
Tomorrow is the 16th anniversary of my dad's passing. He stayed away at work an extra two weeks and died in a car crash on his way home from the site on his last day. I was in Costa Rica at the time, it tore me up. A piece of my heart is still there even now. I had gotten a new tattoo a few days earlier, over my heart. An om symbol. It was still healing as i went through this devastation and so it is for him too.
What a way to start your steemit contest experience! Contests are fun! And, a great way to meet new people. Best of luck to you. Namaste new friend 💖
Oh wow I'm so sorry to hear that! Being in Costa Rica at that time I believe it was very hard for you, I'm so sorry. Yeah sometimes we live our lives like it would last forever, but it doesn't work that way. My dad had a heart attack and he was not in our hometown, so I had a similar horrible experience.
And thanks for the kind words :) at least we are talking about the ones we love, meeting new awesome people and having a nice time! Thank you!
