It looks like the answer to the questions is "yes". But why would one want a self-religion?

Religion makes use of dogma, and dogma resists change and tends towards orthodoxy. By the definition it seems that Scientology is a self-religion, and they seem to typify this tendency quite well.

However it appears you mean more of a self-self-religion, a religion of membership one. This would perhaps offset some of the in/out-group think that religions encourage. Still, I hazard that the dogma issue would still arise. It doesn't seem useful.
