High cost of ownership : That's what grinds my gear !!

in #teamaustralia7 years ago (edited)

I don't mind shelling out more coins for a quality product but I cannot keep up with high cost of maintenance associated with these thingamijigs . Here is a list of things in my lived experience that cost a lot of money to buy and even more to maintain , as follows:

1.What triggered me this weekend was the 35$ battery replacement on my wife's watch . We got a pair of Burberrys sometime back as a once in lifetime purchase , I almost never wear mine and now the damn thing costs 35$ to keep up per year. The repair guy told me if I want to get the original waterproofing testing done it would cost me 59$ and I obviously declined it !!
This thing is costing me 5% of the original price per year and I hate it !!

2.Used luxury cars : once they go in the shop you would want to completely disown them and run away , bit of an obvious one in hindsight.

So much happier to own a Japanese car !!

3.App development : these things cost a ton of money to get done right and even when you are "done" you are not really done. Maintenance and bug fixing costs a ton of money but I guess its cost of doing business but I have now concluded that it's so much better to buy white label products ( as much as possible) from an established team ( think shopify).

4.Cellphones : I don't how we ended up in a place where we pay thousands of dollars for phones which slow down and crap out within an year. We all remember the iphone slowdown fiasco , well , android isn't much better either !!

What have you experienced in your life that costed a ton to acquire and still costs money to maintain?

My Cannabis consumption 😂also Playstation costs money , since I was 5, now 29 I dont even want to know how much hahah

tks for sharing...although my point was things that keep on costing more even after having high upfront cost.

You yourself include smartphones,Playstation is not cheap haha it costs hand has cost me more than having the newest smartphone😂it also keep costing money, games, repair, controllers, 2 Tv, playstation pro, playstation vr.😂my Playstation's cost way way way more then 35$ per year thats what I pay on playstation plus alone, if that does not match your description I must be crazy😂
I think it would fetch me a nice patek trough al the years.
My current watch has cost me about 380€ 11 years ago, it battery has been changed once, and the thing is damn near invincible

Hey Man , my point wasn't really that I have a more expensive watch than you ...but I can see how it may have across that way.

I have never owned a playstation so didn't really know the 35$ annual fee...that sucks !!

No I know, it was just to point out how expensive Playstation is to have/maintain/upgrade, and how relative low cost my watch has been through the years. English is not my native language so sorry for the confusion😂The Dutch people are said to be very direct in speaking.
Have a nice day!!

its all good
