When I was serving on a U.S. Attack Submarine we made a liberty call to Halifax, it was my second most favorite port visit with Perth Australia being my favorite. You are so right about the friendly laid back atmosphere, the entire crew was wishing that we had been scheduled for a longer visit. This is a wonderful blog and I love the history lesson!
