The Difference between A Social Home Kid and A Normal Home Kid

in #teammalaysia7 years ago (edited)

For almost 12 years, I had spent much of my time supervising a home for the underprivileged children. It had been an amazing time and of course challenging, It actually molded my understanding of life and the meaning of my life's calling. I realized if someone comes from a not-so-fortunate background, with the right guidance and motivation, he or she can excel in their chosen field.

However, not every kid from social home does well in their future, but the fundamental of discipline and principles of staying strong and positive were taught in the early days of their lives in the home.

IMG_20150412_153803.jpgThere are times, I have seen some normal kid that have both parents and a decent home, yet they are rude to people and ungrateful for the things they have. Whereas some of the kids from a home who do not have much of the privilege like other kids, yet they behave better and know what is right and what is wrong.

Of course being kids, time to play is ALL-THE-TIME. But when it comes to showing respect, socializing and communicating with people, and understanding you-get-what-you-work-for is instilled inside the underprivileged. That makes them mature slightly faster compared to those kids who are overly pampered in some families.

I have kept in touch with some of the kids who have "graduated" from the home. They are now adults and have good jobs and play important role in their workplace. These people are happy, thankful to the opportunities that come by, and knows what it means you-get-what-you-work-for. They understand that what is it like to have minimal or nothing, and that makes them easy to be happy and thankful when they have something.

I believe it's not the house that makes a person, but it's the environment and upbringing with effective molding process that create a strong and valuable person in the future. A wise man said, "It's not where you come from that matters most, its where you are heading".

Aside to that, If you are not happy with your life right now, one of the key factors could be your environment. The environment is more powerful than will-power.

Your life is depending so much on 3 things if you really want to succeed:
A. The Right Environment
B. The Right Goals
C. The Right Plans
