in #teammalaysia7 years ago (edited)

Mimaland, short for Malaysia in Miniature Land is a theme park opened in 1970s. The first ever theme park opened in Malaysia. It is situated on a 300 acres of land in Batu 12, Ulu Gombak, Selangor. The first time it was opened to public, the park drew a huge crowd from all over Malaysia and Singapore to attractions such as prehistoric animal park containing huge dinosaurs figurines, giant maze, jungle treks, lakes for boating and water slides.

Unfortunately in January of 1993, a Singaporean tourist had drowned in the pool. This tragic event led to temporary closure of Mimaland. After investigations has been made, the park reopened on the following year. However, a minor landslide incident in may 1994 led to the park closure again. After several court cases brought to Mimaland management the park is permanently closed in 1994 and has been left abandoned since.

Nowadays claimed by mother nature, Mimaland has attracted thrill seekers and paranormal activist. There has been some reported paranormal sightings at the abandoned park. Now the park is one of the most popular "haunted"places in the country. Some of the statues of dinosaurs is still standing strong.

The park is owned by public agencies, and is off limits to public. But there are some thrill seekers who entered the abandoned park. There were some talks about redeveloping Mimaland but nothing has happened ever since. Today the park looks like a real life Jurassic World.
