Why Are Malaysians So Critical Of Other Locals Trying Out "New" Ideas?
I don't see why some people are so hard on others who are trying out ideas here.
Sure, it's been done overseas or wherever. But has it been done here?
Even if it's done here, has it been done properly here?
Even if it's been done "properly" here, is there room for competition?
Even if it's done "properly" and there's no space, is there room for disruption or improvement? (The answer to this is always yes.)
Just because the idea isn't new doesn't mean it should be looked down upon.
If they saw an issue here and chose to adapt a solution that was successful overseas to solve it, then... what's the issue? Why can't they be commended for even trying to solve a problem in the first place?
Then on the flip side, irrelevant achievements (like when non-Malaysians or barely Malaysians do amazingly well overseas #petpeeve) get praised to high heavens. What about the people who are trying to bring change or do things HERE? Why can't we praise and highlight them too?
It really doesn't matter who does it first (such a primary school mentality!)
What matters is who does it well (or even tries in the first place), and what impact they achieve.
And I think we should be supportive of that, not just condemn them as "copycats" or "unoriginal". Why reinvent the wheel? If it's worked out in other places before, what's wrong with trying out a version of it here?
It's just disheartening to see how quickly people sh*t on a business here simply because it's not a "completely brand new" one.
That needs to stop.
