KURATAU IS ONE OF THE MOST SCENIC PLACES IN NEW ZEALAND
Upon hearing the name Kuratau, I suspect many Kiwis think "where is that?". But then again I suspect that upon hearing the name New Zealand, many Steemians think "where is that?"
Taupo is pretty well known, and the name Taupo is used for both the lake and the town at the north end of the lake. Turangi is the town at the south end, but it's not really on state highway one (despite looking like it is on maps) so nobody goes there and it's not exactly thriving.
To get to Kuratau you turn off at Turangi and drive west for about 20 minutes, then turn off again, and then you arrive at a really spectacular spot. As you crest the hill it all opens out and the view of Lake Taupo is pretty awesome.

Kuratau is a small village north of Omori, New Zealand, on the western side of Lake Taupo. The population in the 2006 census was 354 people in 138 households
Because we are on Steemit maybe I should also include a map of where NZ is, but last time I posted a world map a bunch of flat earthers gave me shit for being mind controlled. Although I sort of enjoyed that because it was a role reversal for me. (Don't worry I have no desire to start dressing up as a woman!)

Beautiful pics, it looks like Kuratau is the kind of place to go if you want a quiet and relax vacation, away from the noise of our cities. It looks calm and soothing.
Those photos are stunning. We live in such a beautiful country. Next time we get up North I definitely want to stop and stay a night at Kuratau. It sounds like my kind of place. I tend to choose quiet, less populated towns to stay in when we holiday. That ks for posting about it. I probably never would have thought to go there otherwise.
