The UAV of Facebook for distribution of the Internet has made the first flight
It was originally supposed that the drone will be able to hang in air of only 30 minutes, however the team of developers has decided to hold him over the earth a little longer: as a result the UAV has held on about 96 minutes.
It is interesting that wingspan at Aquila is wider, than at the Boeing 737 plane, however thanks to the case from carbon fiber composite material engineers have achieved the minimum weight of the device.
According to Zuckerberg's plans, UAVs from Facebook have to provide Internet access for 1,6 billion people who are in the most remote territories.
Similar projects are both at Google, and at many content providers. Facebook is after all a social network which is interested in increase in the audience. Similar experiments not so much about real operation, how many about a certain far bright future. The Internet is a question rather rhetorical, in that plan everywhere that constantly changes including the concept of the Internet. If a few years ago all dreamed that there will be a fiber-optic connection, we will be able to connect the whole world in this way, then now rates, probably, more on the mobile Internet. 4G LTE already for anybody not a surprise, not news, and here networks of the fifth generation so far questionable as far as them economically will develop in the near future. If it is fair, I believe in what the mobile Internet will win against and nevertheless we will pass to wireless connections more. The main issue, actually, even not in the speed of connection and not in delivery of the Internet as such, seems to me, and in operating time because all this begins to consume more energies, and the industry of production of accumulators does not cope yet with those tasks which before it rise. There is a wish to believe that break in this area will allow us including to everywhere receive the Internet.
In future Facebook wants to receive fleet from several Aquila which will fly at the height of 18 kilometers, to transfer each other data with the help of lasers and to be airborne till several months. The company declared completion of operation over the UAV at the end of July, 2015. It was reported that now it was succeeded to achieve data transmission rate from the drone in 10 gigabits per second.
