Volocopter Will Be The First Flying Taxi In 5 years

If in the auto industry in recent years the development of autonomous management technology is actualized, why should not the same apply to aircraft?

The German manufacturer of aircraft Volocopter aims to take the title "first flying taxis".

At CES, they presented their 18-rotor aircraft capable of transferring two passengers from point A to point B. Volocopter already completed one of their first flights to Dubai. The rotors that drive the aircraft are powered by 9 batteries. Each battery supplies two rotors that are placed opposite each other. This ensures stability in case one of the batteries is canceled during flight.

The capacity of the batteries is sufficient for a 30-minute flight. A particularly practical detail is that batteries do not have to be recharged. After landing, they can be exchanged within 5 minutes. At the moment, the aircraft is run manually, but the company intensively works the same to run autonomously.

However, the company predicts that the completion of the project will take at least 5 years, which means that they will have enough time to comply with the legal regulations.
