Samsung patents a graphene battery that recharges in less than 15 minutes

Samsung has developed a new technology in the manufacture of its cell phone batteries, making it 5 times faster than current batteries.

The new technology is based on "graphene," a carbon image that will boost the capacity of Samsung batteries in the future by almost 50 percent than conventional lithium batteries.

According to the new technology, which is still being tested, the new phone will need only 12 to 18 minutes to fully charge.

The company said it was seeking to use the same technology in the manufacture of batteries for electric cars, which must be characterized by rapid shipment and long life.

Samsung will rely on its new technology as a point of strength in its fierce struggle with its rival Apple, which produces iPhone phones.
