China's Sunway TaihuLight Supercomputer Crowned as the Fastest Computer in the World
The Sunway computer has achieved a peak performance of 93 Petaflops per second. They have achieved this by using 40,960 Chinese-designed 260 core processors. It is nearly 3 times as fast as the previous record holder, the Tianhe-2. American based IBM pledges to release a 200 Petaflop supercomputer dubbed "Summit" in 2018.
