Its pretty safe, as long as you dont get too close to it while running! I think the streamers would be enough to deter people away from getting too close, but I can turn it off instantly at the flick of a switch.
The streamers are not the real main danger though, as its very low current. The lethal voltages are on the primary circuit that drives the coil.

lol, i know how you feel. The lightning bolts do look rather scary, but not alot worse than a tazer gun. the primary coil is much lower voltage but Far higher current.
