ROBOTS And HUMANS Need To Learn How To Understand Each Other

in #technology7 years ago

It is important that robots learn how to communicate with humans as they develop their ability to perform their tasks independently, whether they are business partners or even strangers altogether. Verbal understanding using natural language will play an important role, but it is one aspect in many other respects.

Rethink Robotics has developed a project called "Baxter," with eyes appearing on a screen, to allow people to predict what the robot will do later. The screen can turn its attention to one of the robot's arms before it accepts any act, thereby ensuring that passers-by are aware of the future type of robot movement.

This requires interaction between the two sides; In addition to the ability of robots to issue signals to people who interact with them, you will need also the ability to capture social hints from others to become more effective in the roles they will play.

Use a team of interactive robots at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, led by Dr. Julie Shah,» Technology teaching machines to teach Android monitors the proactive indicators issued by man, which can reveal the way he plans to take. We as human beings are able to take these hints intuitively because of the experience we possess, but the machines need to study these fundamentals from scratch.

A robot named Mario has undergone an experiment as a receptionist in Belgium, receiving room keys and interacting with guests through their handshake. The R-Fi project is designed as a robot that can teach young children without interference from human beings, and draw their attention for six continuous minutes.

Robots can outperform certain tasks by virtue of their non-human qualities; they are not tired and will not complain when they are given unpleasant and unsatisfactory tasks. Robots will undoubtedly need to learn human skills and become more dominant in multiple jobs within different areas. The ability to interact properly with humans is primarily the foundation on which all professions are built, skills that robots do not naturally acquire.
