PART OF THE COMPUTER MOTHERBOARD

in #technology7 years ago
A motherboard is one of the most important part of a computer system,it hold many of the crucial components of a computer ,including the center processing unit cpu memory and connectors input and output devices.it may interest you to know that motherboard can also be called, main board, planar board, printed wired board, system boardThe type of motherboard installed in a PC has a great effect on a computer's system speed and expansion capabilities.

The processing Unit{CPU}

This is the brain of the computer, it is responsible for fetching, decoding, and executing program instructions as well as performing mathematical and logical calculations.The processor chip is identified by the processor type and the manufacturer.The processor enable you to identify the socket that fit the processor, and also if it not in the processor on you cant identify the socket 1 to 8.

Ramdom Access Memory{RAM}

Random Access Memory, or RAM, usually refers to computer chips that temporarily store dynamic data to enhance computer performance while you are working.Random access memory is volatile, meaning it loses its contents once power is turned off. So, RAM is used by the central processing unit (CPU) when a computer is running to store information that it needs to be used very quickly, but it does not store any information permanently.When a computer shuts down properly, all data located in RAM is returned back to permanent storage on the hard drive or flash drive. At the next boot-up, RAM begins to fill with programs automatically loaded at startup, a process called booting. Later on, the user opens other files and programs that are still loaded in the memory.

Basic Input/Output{BIOS}

BIOS is a firmware, in short. It is stored on a chip on the part of the computer motherboard and is basically, a set of instructions that run to help load the operating system. Your OS would fail to load, if not for the BIOS! When you turn on the computer, BIOS instructions are initiated.All motherboards include a small block of Read Only Memory (ROM) which is separate from the main system memory used for loading and running software. On PCs, the BIOS contains all the code required to control the keyboard, display screen, disk drives, serial communications, and a number of miscellaneous functions.
