Very Interesting Last Quarter Of The Year For PC Builders

Lets face it, we had some insane technological launches the last few months. With the i9 9900K dropping with soldered IHS and temps beyond reason for many trying to squeeze every last GHZ possible, to the madness currently surrounding the RTX series of Nvidia graphics cards. We all have to wonder, what are these people thinking lately?

I have been skimming some articles lately, at the moment I am having very serious issues with last years pc build, thinking my mobo maybe itching to a crawl or my i7 7700k, so I am thinking upgrades soon. Like anytime i decide to fork out cash I don't really have, I try hard to ensure I get the best parts I can live with.

On reading I am shocked to find out that Nvidia has been really hit hard with this RTX issue lately. What looked good on paper apparently is coming at a cost for users who are constantly having to RMA their newly acquired 2080 Ti's. It appears first batch users are coming up with many dead cards, artifacting in games and some with crazy BSOD's that are non stop.

So what was hopeful to be the next best thing, is starting to make consumers out there not only angry, but also very wary to touch the next Gen of graphics till these issues are sorted out.

Now comes the next GPU perfect storm.....

It appears as of this week, Nvidia has been seeing a major increase of purchases with the last gen GTX 1080 TI series. Apparently a lot of people are reverting back to this series for their builds but already on looking at Amazon and Newegg, it appears stocks are very limited once again in the US markets, if not multiple other regions throughout the world.

Last year it was us miners, this year it appears PC enthusiasts and gamers alike are killing it on GTX 1080 TI sales.

Nvidia is investigating the issues with its RTX, now I can get the anger about this launch but usually Nvidia does have a reputation for good customer support, so I suspect they will eventually get to the bottom of the issues at hand. I think the push to get these out so fast led to the issues we see now, so maybe in the future this will teach manufacturers to take time have things right before consumers are in the mix.

Should You Buy The GTX 1080 TI Series Right Now?

A lot of people are so in love with the idea of the RTX series that going backwards may be really disheartening for those building pcs at the moment. If you have the money and can afford the best, you probably are leaning on the RTX series this holiday season but personally, I think I will stick with my GTX 1080 TI's for now while they adjust for this problem and really prove that issues are completely resolved.

The GTX 1080 TI for my gaming has been very solid. I run an SLI setup on a 4K LG C7 OLED and I swear to you I have yet to notice a missed frame for a year of gaming with them. I am also in love with the idea of the RTX but lets face it, having to gamble and RMA possibly is a tad too much of a turn off, so I believe patience on this one is gonna be worth it to many.

Just remember, you always have to build in budget but also ensure you build with confidence that you can live with the final result. RTX is gonna end up fine and many more Gens will follow as long as PCs live on, so we got time to wait on this one for a minute.

Dropped Some Of My Own ASUS and GIGABYTE 1080 TI's On EBAY!

Not to shill this to anyone at all but I did recently start an auction on a few of my GTX 1080 TI's on EBAY. I know a lot of you maybe looking for cards right now and I already sold one pretty fast, so I will drop the links here for those that are interested. I am keeping 2 of my TI's for the next build but I just figure let these go, recoup some of the cost on the upgrade and hopefully a few people get the cards they need this holiday season.

In Conclusion: Will GPU Manufacturer's Ever Get It Right Again?

I know right now its pretty discouraging with the launches we have seen. Seems its about the cash grab vs the care for the consumers but this is all in growth I believe. Right now we are hitting some technological crossroads, its all about slapping more VRMs on motherboards, pulling more in through marketing vs actual product, and this mess going on with Intel and Nvidia tells me that we got a mad rush to hit the public before Quality Control even gets a chance to sit down and test things out.

I think this is normal though, we are just hitting a wall and need more innovation to come about, which will happen I am sure. Its definitely though time as a consumer to read and research on any major purchases with new products. Especially in the PC world right now because what looks good may not actually be worth the price of value companies are assuming. Do your due diligence this holiday season, makes sure when you buy that next shiny product, the thing has reviews of it actually running well. Could be hit and miss right now and I hate to see any of you hit hard this coming Christmas or your families.
