Chinese alternative of Quora, Zhihu - Which is better ?
Hello steemian !! In this article, i'm gone cover side by side review of Quora & Zhihu.
Quora is a question-answer platform where questions are asked, answered & managed by its community user. It was founded in June 2009 by Adam & Charlie (both are former employees at Facebook). Quora has grown quickly since 2010. Quora claimed to have more than 190 million monthly unique visitors with alexa rank of 111. Quora also launched its app for Android, ios & windows as well to acquire more number of users. Apart from question-answer, Quora also allow their user to create blog.
Basic features of Quora :
- Upvote/Downvote - Its similar with our steemit upvotes but they can't pay for it. Users are allowed to upvote & downvote any answer according to their choice. It will help to rank the answers.
- Report Answer - Users are allowed to report for spam, factually incorrect article as well. This feature will enhance their standards.
- Suggest Edits - This hepls to improve answers & questions as well. Users are allowed to give suggestions of any mistake or error. Its upto author, either he/she approve it or reject it.
Now coming to another one,
Zhihu is also an question-answer platform but it is available only in Chinese language. It was launched in January, 2011. They claimed to have more than 250 million monthly page views with alexa rank of 124(global). Zhihu headquarter is based on Beijing, China. It was founded by 3 founders (Zhou Yuan, Li shenshen, Huang Jixin ).
Basic feature of Zhihu :
Both Quora & Zhihu have almost same feature but apart from this Zhihu offers some more interesting features like,
- 值乎 - Zhihuers respond to questions with a 1–2 minute sound recording answering the question, and people can purchase the recordings for a price set by the recorder.
- Zhihu live - Zhihu Live is the biggest new feature on Zhihu. Top Zhihuers are invited to prepare TED talk style lectures, with about 30 minutes of content and 30 minutes for Q&A. The lectures are live broadcast (sound only), and follow a set schedule. Listeners have to sign up ahead of time to participate. Cost for one lecture seems to range from 20 — 100 RMB (3 to 16 dollars).
