It is referred to as the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) it’s the most powerful and biggest particle accelerator existing and working. Due to an upgrade carried out on the machine, the LHC now operates at an energy that is 7 times higher than any of its predecessors! The LHC is based at the European particle physics laboratory CERN, near Geneva in Switzerland. CERN is the European Organization for Nuclear Research.

This huge machine job was to make a small particle travel fast within its pipeline from both ends at a very fast speed I meant at a speed approximately that of the speed of light then eventually colliding. This process will lead to several outcome from the collided matter as any form of matter that is made to spin and eventually collided at that speed will most certainly be splited or broken into smaller or minute particle which will give room for scientist to be able to study the smallest part of the matter that forms them up as a whole.

The particle accelerator always allows scientist to be able to understand how matters are being formed hence the importance of a particle accelerator cannot be over emphasized.

The knowledge about particle accelerators is gradually becoming available all around the world because everyone has to be aware of the sole purpose a particle accelerator so that misconception wont later set in. a good example of such knowledge is in the science fiction series movie titled The Flash the story line of this movie was centered on the after effect of the explosion of a particle accelerator hence for those who have been following the series movie will have already been used to hearing about a particle accelerator and soe of the things that it is capable of doing.

There have been several particle accelerator/collider in existence before the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) but none of them are as powerful as the Large Hadron Collider one notable feature of a particle accelerator/collider is that the longer the distance its pipeline covers the more powerful the machine will be because the particles will be able to travel a long distance before eventually colliding.

According to the CERN website “it consists of a 27-kilometre ring of superconducting magnets with a number of accelerating structures to boost the energy of the particles along the way inside the accelerator, two high-energy particle beams travel at close to the speed of light before they are made to collide. The beams travel in opposite directions in separate beam pipes – two tubes kept at ultrahigh vacuum. They are guided around the accelerator ring by a strong magnetic field maintained by superconducting electromagnets. The electromagnets are built from coils of special electric cable that operates in a superconducting state, efficiently conducting electricity without resistance or loss of energy.
This requires chilling the magnets to 271.3°C – a temperature colder than outer space. For this reason, much of the accelerator is connected to a distribution system of liquid helium, which cools the magnets, as well as to other supply services.”
. It’s normal for the accelerator to be generating high amount of heat hence proper ventilation system has to be put in place so as to counter the resulting heat from the accelerator.

As we all know that every scientific invention will always be opened to criticism which is always necessary for the improvement of such technology hence, several scientist have posted several article that are either in support or against the machine but the most popularly published article was that of the one going against the use of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) which was as a result of the resultant matter that was produced when the machine was used to collide matter and it’s called Anti-matter which is referred to as the mirror product of a matter

……….Watch out for the more update on Large Hadron Collider and also the fearful truth behid Anti-matter………..
