Gas cookers can be really messing even after being extremely careful. Cleaning it is a task that everyone wants to avoid. But, it’s necessary to extend the life of your stove and keep it looking in perfectly good condition. The build-up of dirt over time can seriously impact how long you can use your stove and can even be a risk to your health and safety if left ignored for far too long.
The task of cleaning and maintaining your gas cooker is now easier for you, if you adhere to list of do’s and don’ts for you to look over before you start cleaning.

Do's

  1. Wait until the top of the stove and burners have cooled down completely before cleaning starts.
  2. Wipe off the stovetop thoroughly after every use. Doing this makes it easier to clean in the long run, as it prevents the accumulation of grime and burnt food.
  3. Dismantle the burners and soak them in warm, soapy water, scrubbing them clean with a soft sponge to avoid scratching the metal.
  4. If you are finding it difficult with a stubborn stain, make a paste out of baking soda and water to make the job easier.
  5. While cleaning, make sure you clean around the knobs and dials.
  6. Use a basin full of clean water to rinse the parts thoroughly.
  7. Ensure you leave all the parts to dry properly before reassemble the stove.
  8. Get rid of any food that has stayed under the burners and on the stove top.
  9. If the holes in the burner have become clogged with food, you can use a pipe cleaner or pin but you have to be gentle!

Don’t

  1. Pouring water directly over the stovetop can prevent the ignition from working when you want to use your stove again.
  2. Using wooden toothpicks or cocktail sticks to clean the burner holes can break off into the holes and clog them permanently.
  3. Spraying cleaning liquid onto the control panel or dials. Instead, spray it onto a damp cloth or soft sponge to prevent wearing off the indicators on the dials.
