There's nothing wrong with putting in extra effort to achieve your goals in life. Still, in the midst of all these activities, we don't always make time for what's truly essential: proper dental hygiene.

Despite our best efforts to deny it, a lot of us struggle with a range of oral problems. And it's not just me; these tooth problems are becoming worse everywhere and have spread like wildfire. We all experience oral problems occasionally, whether it be a minor pain, sensitivity, tooth discolouration, cavity, or gum disease.

There is no denying that our teeth have a significant part in improving or diminishing our appearance. Therefore, it is crucial that we take care of them and do everything possible to ensure their safety and wellbeing.

We are all aware that oral hygiene prevents diseases of the mouth, tongue, and teeth. We should not deviate from this regular practice, as it eliminates all sorts of oral bacteria and prevents future pain by ensuring that we always carry a proper oral cleaning device.

Our oral health is dependent on our way of life. What we consume, how often we brush and floss, how frequently we visit the dentist, etc. The majority of us, especially office workers, tend to consume junk food, and these individuals are the ones that do not wash their teeth correctly. Long-term, this will erode the enamel of our teeth, causing them to lose their luster. So what do we need to restore our teeth's luster?

The following are some ways to improve your health and maintain your teeth's luster:

  1. Take care of your oral hygiene routine. One may argue that this is the most basic of tips, and that everyone already knows it. However, how many people actually practice this? Certainly, there aren't more than a few of them. Just use fluoride toothpaste and practice good oral hygiene habits like brushing twice a day and flossing daily. It's also important to replace your toothbrush on a consistent basis.

  2. Don't drink too much coffee or smoke too much tobacco: On a freezing winter morning, there is nothing more soothing than a hot cup of coffee. However, it has been suggested that drinking three to four cups of coffee daily can lead to tooth discoloration. If you want to see changes, just cut back to two glasses a day. However, chewing tobacco is the most dangerous habit since it not only destroys teeth but also leads to a lethal condition called mouth cancer.

  3. Visit your dentist: It should come as no surprise that we should all visit our dentists on a frequent basis; after all, he is the only one who understands everything about our teeth and can advise us on the best way to maintain our dental health.

  4. Healthy diet: Returning to the topic of diet, we should all avoid fast food and consume only homemade, calcium- and protein-rich dishes. Our teeth require calcium and vitamin D, thus consuming milk and green vegetables is beneficial for our gums and teeth.

  5. Teeth can last a lifetime with adequate home maintenance and annual dental examinations. Keep your teeth and gums healthy regardless of your age by brushing at least twice a day, flossing daily, and visiting the dentist regularly for expert cleanings and checkups.

If you adhere to the aforementioned procedures religiously, there is a good probability that your oral health will continue to improve.
