At the temples, no news is good news

in #templeslast month

So recently I got in touch with some of the monks that had previously been excited to partner up with us in regards to their stray animal population. I called them because they hadn't been in contact with me but when I did speak to him he seemed surprised and told me something along the lines of "you said to call only if the dogs were sick." I don't think that is exactly what I said but he has a point and if that is the understanding that they have over there then them not contacting me is exactly what I should hope for.

I was in the neighborhood anyway so I figured i would stop by and see the dogs as well as pass around some food and snacks. I also did a little bit of what I always do and check various animals for signs of parasite infestation or any other sort of visually identifiable illness.

At this more minor temple there aren't a huge amount of dogs so the inspection doesn't take as long as it does at Tiger Cave Temple. The downside of this place is that the dogs are not as familiar with me so I can't really get very close to the animals for an inspection but the monks know the dogs very well and they helped me with this.

Know me or not these dogs, who seem quite healthy considering, were more than happy to accept bowls of snacks and food!

There is also a group of cats here that we made sure were fed. For whatever reason the dogs are not as approachable here as other temples but the cats are more approachable than they are at other places. Perhaps the monks, who are the day-to-day caregivers, spend more time with the cats than they do the dogs. I'm just happy that everyone was fed and appeared to be in good health. Perhaps I will have to make a greater effort to get out this way more frequently so the dogs can be more familiar with my presence.
