Texas Part 1, Top Golf in The Colony and Ribs

in #texas7 years ago

Every year my family takes a road trip during winter break. Usually, we travel towards Michigan since most of my mother's family lives there. However, this year we decided to escape the Wisconsin winter tundra and travel to the lone star state.

My family drove from Madison, WI to Dallas, TX and then traveled back and forth from Dallas to Houston. We racked up 3,000 miles in one week, which was a lot of driving, even for us.

Texas is a unique place that has captured the Wild West in the modern day. I really enjoyed both the Dallas and Houston areas. It was nice to explore new places, try new foods and enjoy some good weather!

While in Dallas, my family went to Top Golf in The Colony (a small suburb of Dallas). Top Golf is an extremely fun activity for all ages and any skill level of golf. Top Golf is the advanced technological way of playing golf, you shoot golf balls from a booth out to a netted field with several targets. There is a chip in each ball that is assigned your booth number, each time you hit you can view a screen to see exactly where your ball goes and collect points based on how close you get to the targets.

You can read more about Top Golf here: https://topgolf.com/uk/what-is-topgolf/

My family spent an hour striking golf balls from the second floor in our booth, while we munched on fries and enjoyed the heated seats. We took turns getting into a rhythm (as none of my family golfs). This made the night very relaxing and was a fun non-competitive activity to do. Although the families to our left and right were having some friendly competition amongst each other. Each booth has an employee which is assigned to you during the night so you can continue ordering food and playing as long as you would like! Again fun for all ages and various skills, highly recommend for a fun night out with family or friends!

While in Texas, my family ate a lot of meat, as there were many Halal restaurants available for us to choose from! Normally, I have meat three or four times a week, but during our week in Texas we had meat every day, for lunch and dinner.

The Dallas area had a lot of great places to eat, one I want to highlight is Yummy Burgers & BBQ.

The one we went to was a very small store in Richardson, TX, however, I believe it is a small chain restaurant in Texas. I finally got to try ribs! And wow BBQ smoked ribs is definitely the way to go. If you are in the area of a Yummy Burgers and BBQ, check it out and let me know what you think!

More about my Texas adventure to come!

Nice Post, It is so cold today here in East Texas, we aren't used to single digits.

Yeah, when we traveled to Texas it was pretty poor weather, cold and raining, however, Wisconsin is back in the negatives so I definitely appreciated the warmish weather!
