One Photo Every Day,(241/365) Buying mushroom at the market, ซื้อเห็ดที่ตลาด, the OPED project.

This morning I did a super-fast shopping at the morning market as it has started to drizzle and the dark clouds from Laos were crossing over the river.

My main goal was to get some mushroom and freshly made tofu for myself and some fish for the cats over the weekend. I have to make up to the two cats for leaving them at the hospital over a week. I hope the juicy mackerel would make the cats forgive me and be my friends again.

There is a new stall selling odd things like a wooden model of sailing ship, old spectacles, tea set and brass set of traditional Thai containers. The combination of these objects make me wonder who would buy anything from this stall. These kinds of things could be found among the antique stalls along the road close to China Town in Bangkok.

As it has been raining heavily during the past week, fresh water has been released by the dams in Laos. So there are big river fish available in the market! The fishermen are making good money this month! The restaurants in town would be offering many menus of fresh water fish.

For my breakfast I bought some grilled bananas from this lady. It is quite difficult to find charcoal grilled bananas in Bangkok. Vendors cannot make much money from selling grilled bananas and it is quite a hassle to have a charcoal grill. They can make more money selling coffee so there are new coffee shops everywhere.

เช้าวันนี้เราไปซื้อของที่ตลาดเช้าอย่างรวดเร็ว ฝนเริ่มโปรยลงมาและเมฆดำทะมึนกำลังข้ามแม่น้ำมา เรามุ่มหน้าไปซื้อเห็ดและเต้าหู้สำหรับตัวเอง ต่อด้วยปลาทูสองเข่งเพื่อให้แมว วันนี้เราต้องไปรับแมวกลับบ้าน มันจะโกรธเรามากน่าดูที่เอาไปไว้ที่โรงพยาบาลกว่าหนึ่งสัปดาห์ หวังว่ามันจะเข้าใจและยกโทษให้เรา เมื่อได้กินปลาทูอร่อยๆ

วันนี้เจอร้านขายของแปลกๆที่ไม่น่าจะขายได้ที่นี่. มีเรือไม้ขนาดใหญ่ แว่นตาแบบโบราณและชุดนํ้าชาสีขาว และมีเครื่องทองเหลืองหนึ่งชุด เรางงมากเพราะเขาไม่น่าจะขายของแบบนี้ได้ ทำให้นึกถึงร้านแบกับดินแถวตลาดคลองถมในกรุงเทพฯ

ช่วงนี้ฝนตกหนักทางต้นนํ้าทำให้ทางลาวมีการเปิดเขื่อนปล่อยนํ้าลงแม่น้ำ ชาวประมงริมโขงจึงจับปลาตัวใหญ่ๆได้ ในตลาดมีปลานํ้าโขงตัวเท่าแขนหลายเจ้าทีเดียว ก่อนกลับเราแวะซื้อกล้วยหักมุกปิ้งเพื่อกินเป็นข้าวเช้า ที่กรุงเทพฯหากินกล้วยโบราณแบบนี้ยาก ปีนี้ในตลาดมีมะม่วงมาก ทำให้ราคาถูกมาก มะม่วงอกร่องสวนกิโลละยี่สิบบาท มะม่วงน้ำดอกไม้กิโลเพียงยี่สิบห้าบาท ถ้าทำเป็นไอติมและแยมได้คงจะดีไม่น้อย เราต้องรีบกลับไปเตรียมตัวรับแมวกลับบ้านแล้ว
