I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

in #thankyou6 years ago

These groceries brought to you by: Steem fam! Thank you.

I just wanted to give a big thank you to the Steemians who reached out after I posted my last ulog from the depths of depression and insecurity about how I would pay my electric or buy groceries. Especially @jerrytsuseer, @lyndsaybowes, and @creativesoul. I have made a payment on my electric bill and it is no longer in danger of being turned off, and I just got back from TJ's with the bag of groceries above (I'll be going to Sprouts for milk and sugar later, lol - the heat has finally arrived in Denver and I'm inside cooling off with that ice cream as I type).

I'm repeatedly moved by how kind friends online, who I've never met in person, can be when offline life can seem so cold and alone. Y'all are amazing. Thank you so much. <3

You rock, Steem fam! :)

Ooooh EFFF YESSSS <3 <3 <3 So glad you got what you needed for a bit of breathing room my BroSTAR <3<3<3 I love our Fam so much too <3<3<3

Breathing room is MUCH appreciated. <3 Steem fam is the best! I only wish more of my friends would listen to me singing its praises and join us - we would change the WORLD!

I am so very happy to see you managed to put something down on your electric bill and bought food! I just went to read your last ulog and my heart goes out to you. We have the stuff about doctors experiences and food allergies in common and many physical and mental health symptoms too. I know exactly where you are coming from...and actually only caught your Twitter post before...but still sensed you really needed to be heard. If a couple of ko-fis only ended up boosting your mood and giving you some hope...well that was my main goal.

They did both - that went toward groceries AND it gave me hope! <3 Thank you.
I'm sorry that we have so much terrible stuff in common, though. Our health system REALLY needs improvement. And doctors who listen, and who are given time to listen, and if all their patients are getting blown off instead of helped, we should get to leave them shitty reviews which cost them patients somehow. Currently, people go to whatever doctor happens to accept their insurance, and there is no recourse if they suck ass but didn't break the law to lose their license. If people were free to go to whatever doctor they wanted - there might be some repercussions for being a condescending asshole. ;)

Awesome! Next month...I will see what I can do to help you out with something towards cat food...or protein powder...or more ice cream! I was on a liquid meal replacement diet for over six months and the fear of not having enough to get through the month was terrible. We truly live in a broken world when doctors aren't trained to be compassionate and to actually help people...and usually do more harm than good. They are brainwashed and driven by greed and an overinflated sense of self worth. I believe in doing what we can to find our own answers and treatment plans...but even this comes with endless obstacles. We can try...but there is still so much we cannot do for ourselves. There are always the small glimmers of hope towards building a better world...I just hope we get to see more of these results sooner rather than later! I am always a message away to talk when you feel down...or rant when you feel like doing that!

<3 Thank you for your support. Sometimes it really does help just to get it off our chests and vent with someone who understands.
If you haven't read the book Mind Over Medicine, I recommend it. The dr who wrote it was a traditional doctor, got burned out by the system, and became a more holistic doctor in a group-effort group practice. She talks about how fucked up our system is, as well as the placebo/nocebo effect. I kinda wish more doctors would read her book.
Lissa Rankin. It took me a minute to remember her last name, but that's the author.

Thank you for the book recommendation! I hope it will be available in audiobook format somewhere because these days...that seems to be the only way that I can focus long enough to absorb the contents of a book...lol. I enjoy multitasking and listening with something easy to process like a coloring page or bead work.

Oh, I understand! That was me for a while, but my current phase seems to make that harder for some reason. That used to be the only way I got any dishes done or took a walk to the store, was if I had an audiobook on headphones to focus on.
I did look, and amazon says it's available on audible, but I don't know about your local library or anything like that. Here's the website: http://mindovermedicinebook.com/

Omg... love Steemfolk!!!!! So much. Xxx GORGEOUS people. So much generosity. Hope your spirits are buoyed a little. Xx

Totally! Steem folk are truly the anarchist mutual aid ideal in action. Such a good bunch. <3 So grateful to be here!
And yes ...I feel much relief, as well as feeling touched and grateful!

❤ Beautiful Big Love ❤
