100 DAYS OF STEEM : Day 96 - Community Curators and the STEEM POD

This last week of the 100 Days of Steem project is moving at a feverish pace.

As well as doing our best to keep up with the fantastic growth of The Diary Game, we are working hard to put in place an ambitious plan for what comes next.

As we laid out last week in our Roadmap post, the core of our strategy going forward will be the 3 R’s - Recruitment, Retention and Reward.

With that in mind, we are now reviewing all the projects and processes that have evolved during the 100 Days to see how they can be most effectively utilized for the next phase of Steem’s growth and development.

Community Curators and the STEEM POD

The Community Curators project and the STEEM POD have both evolved during the course of the 100 Days of Steem.

They have been quite experimental as neither had been attempted before on the Steem blockchain.

Both have been beneficial to help Steem move forward over the past couple of months, but we don’t feel they have been as effective as they might have been.

That has most likely been due to our lack of clear direction and guidance – a not unexpected outcome of the experimental nature of the two projects.

The end of the 100 Days is for us an appropriate time to review how the Community Curators and the STEEM POD have worked so far, and how they might be more effective in the next phase.

In the second half of the 100 Days, The Diary Game has been increasingly influential in guiding our plans going forward.

We have learned so much from that particularly about recruitment and retention.

It is with this in mind that we are now planning to make more significant changes to the Community Curators project and the STEEM POD.

We did post our initial plans for Community Curators 2.0 last week, but following feedback on that and other wider changes taking place we are retracting that and setting out a new direction for the project.

The STEEM POD has so far operated separately from the Community Curators but we now feel there could be significant mutual benefit to bring the two projects together.

We will be going into more depth on the new arrangements in posts after the 100 Days ends, but for now the key changes are…

  • The Community Curator accounts will not be offered to the community to apply for each month.

  • The two 500K SP Curator accounts will, at least for the duration of Season 2, be utilized as additional curation accounts for The Diary Game. They will be operated by additional members being brought into the Steemit team to help with the growth of The Diary Game.

  • The remaining five 200K SP Curator accounts will be allocated to teams from Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and South America to support Steemians in their respective continents.

  • These Continental Curator accounts will be run by members of the STEEM POD who live in each respective continent.

  • It is planned to have at least three STEEM POD members per continent to start, with that number increasing as more suitable people become available.

  • There will be a new phase of recruitment to the STEEM POD to ensure sufficient team members for each continent.

  • STEEM POD members will be offered an improved incentive package with new rewards and increased direct delegations.

  • Existing STEEM POD members will be offered ‘first option’ to apply for these new enhanced roles.

  • Full details of how to apply for the new STEEM POD roles will be released next week.

  • It is planned that the full transition to the new setup will take place over the remainder of July.

We see this as an exciting progression of the Community Curator and STEEM POD projects.

With further announcements that we will be making very shortly, we hope you will be able to share our enthusiasm for the great potential these new developments will offer for the growth of the Steem community.

We appreciate there might be disappointment from the art and music communities that there will not currently be the option for the curation accounts, but we will be continuing to support those communities through upvotes and prize sponsorships.

The 100 Days of Steem has been an informative and educational project for us.

The large majority of what has been done over the last 3 months had not been attempted on Steem before.

As we move into the next stage of Steem’s re-evolution we hope we can take what has been learned from the 100 Days to make even better use of the resources available.

We are excited about what comes next and what it will mean for the future growth of Steem.

Thank you,

The Steemit Team

Hi,

first of all, thanks for the opportunity we had to support Steemians in different ways. @steemingcurators was born during the split because we felt the urge to help you out and to let the Steemit community know that there are still users who care and have faith in Steem. We stood up, despite all the negativity, harassment and threats.

We tried to keep the community engaged with challenges, a new discord with 150 unique people, and all things we could think of to keep users on Steemit. This was even before The Diary game saw the light..

With the unfortunate event of the C-virus, our personal life got hugely affected and the time we were planning on putting in our projects (steemingcurators And Musicforsteem), got drastically but temporarily cut in small pieces.
The upvotes we get from you are incredibly generous and we like to thank you. But it's not a guaranteed income, I think you can acknowledge that. I wouldn't sleep if I know I had to rely on that to feed my kids.

Its correct. In the 40 days that we are curators from the Steem community curation project we haven't received any feedback, except comments that stated we do a great job. No guidelines, no clear direction, no nothing. We were dying to work WITH you to achieve those goals.

Those goals and directions are at your office. My feedback is to share this vision with your team, and those included the curators. If your deckhands don't know the direction of the ship, you as a captain will have a hard time getting it in the right direction.

Of course, we are massively disappointed, as all our intentions where good. This feels like a punishment. I never ever ever punish my employees. Definitely not when I know I failed in my communication. I have no clue on what fact you made these decisions. Now we can only guess.

Sorry @ciska, we missed this.

Our small team struggles to keep up with the now thousands of comments and notifications we receive each day.

The main problem we have is that we have very limited resources, particularly in terms of delegation accounts. This is never enough to fulfil all the requests we continually receive.

We have to work with what we have, and have to be constantly evolving and adapting to what goes on around us.

The Diary Game has proved to be enormously popular and enormously successful in recruiting new people to Steem. Something we believe everyone will agree is badly needed.

The challenge now is how best to most effectively harness this great new influx of people, talent and enthusiasm to the widest benefit of Steem.

Our current strategy and structure is largely focused on the Country Representatives.

We are just beginning to unlock the full potential of this.

This week's winner of Music For Steem is one small example of this potential.

We are very thankful for all you have been doing with SteemCurators.

We have purposefully avoided giving any guidance, direction or interference in what you do as we have want it to develop through community interference.

You have been doing a great job !

Thank you again from The Steemit Team

Thank you for sharing your thought and outlooks towards this platform. Will be looking forward in any interests we're about to share. Keep it up and God Bless.

This is great re-evolution, we in STEEM POD members share the same excitement and anticipation for what comes next. Also, we hope all Steem Community members will share the same benefit from this new structure in the Community Project lead and support by The Steemit Team.

As a steemPOD member, I am so glad to learn of these new exciting improvements, and restructuring that are geared towards the re-evolution and future growth of steem. I am looking forward to applying for the new antispated roles of the SteemPOD members for my continent.

Thanks so much Steemit team for the updates

I love the exciting things happening now on Steemit and I can't wait to be a part of them. Meanwhile, this is my first ever diary post:

Welcome back to Steem.

Great first Diary Game post.

The Steemit Team

@steemitblog @steemcurator01
Thank you for your update. Through the diary game, you were able to attract a very large number of new users and also returned old users who froze their account.
Because there are no privileged participants in the diary game, everyone is equal and depends on their efforts to write an interesting diary, post photos and compete with other participants.
This diary game will take Steemit to a new level.

Thank you for your help and support on The Diary Game @vipnata.

We are looking forward to seeing what happens with Season 2.

The Steemit Team

@steemcurator01,
Thank you very much for your trust, it is very dear to me.
I would like to continue curating the Russian community and add Italian Steem members to It, making one significant community Russian-Italian, because in the second season I plan to invite Italians to the game diaries.

Hi @steemitblog
Here is my very first entry in the diary game and per your instructions I am leaving a link to the post in the comments
Thank you for your time. https://steemit.com/thediarygame/@shortsegments/the-diary-game-july-8th-2020-shortsegments-wednesday-morning

As long as there are excellent curation efforts and support for all types of content, I think how you structure it is a detail.

Good job

Hi @ steemitblog

Could you take a look at my 6 day old post? >>> link

I'm sorry, but I'm short today)))))

Hello Steemit team, we hope this comment reaches you.

We are a curatorial team dedicated to supporting the community (mainly the Hispanic one) within the Steemit platform, this project has been planned for more than two years but it could finally be official a few weeks ago.

Everything we do is non-profit, we are a team of Venezuelans with the best intentions on the platform, unfortunately our voting power is very small and limited since it barely reaches a value of $ 0.02

We wanted to know if you could give us some kind of support. Currently we collaborate and benefit users from all over the world in general to people who come from Spanish-speaking countries. (We have been very reduced in terms of support since our vote has a very low value).

We would be very grateful if you could delegate us any amount of Steem Power (no matter the amount, any amount of delegated SP is accepted with pride), or if you could give us your support through votes (UpVotes) to our healing reports daily.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Remember that all the effort we make is for the rest of the community! Thank you very much for your initiatives. @steemcurator01 and @steemitblog.
