In ancient Roman religion and myth, Janus (/ˈdʒeɪnəs/; Latin: IANVS (Iānus), pronounced [ˈjaː.nus]) is the god of beginnings, gates, transitions, time, duality, doorways,[1] passages, and endings. He is usually depicted as having two faces, since he looks to the future and to the past. It is conventionally thought that the month of January is named for Janus (Ianuarius),[2] but according to ancient Roman farmers' almanacs Juno was the tutelary deity of the month.[3]

Janus presided over the beginning and ending of conflict, and hence war and peace. The gates of a building in Rome named after him, not a temple as it is often called, but an open enclosure with gates at each end, were opened in time of war, and closed to mark the arrival of peace (which did not happen very often). As a god of transitions, he had functions pertaining to birth and to journeys and exchange, and in his association with Portunus, a similar harbor and gateway god, he was concerned with travelling, trading and shipping.

Lately, I have been watching and questioning others motives with MUCH more scrutiny. Steemit for me has produced some of the most loyal friends I could hope for and also shown me that sometimes an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure when dealing with "Janus" Archetypes. Being slick and using some as stepping stones by kissing arse and knifing in the back at the same time tends to have a way of becoming known in certain circles.

Many chase "Success" at all costs including tossing you to the side once they have attempted to infiltrate your own networks of allies and relationships. I find this very sad that some resort to being rather parasitic versus innovative to move on up the perceived "ladders" on here. The silver lining is that normally many others see through this rather easily as many Steemians and people in general will start to notice the patterns of pandering and manipulation.

I do my best not to forget those who have been by my side through thick and thin. They remain loyal when I make nothing and when my blog and podcasts take off. It is much smarter to really understand that loyalty and remaining vigilant will get you further along on here then playing what I refer to as, " The Innocent Fox batting eyelashes while Guarding YOUR Hen House."
