The Dancing Dreamers with DJ Damashii's New #ravingthroughsteem Initiative: Help Me Grow the EDM Community on Steemit!

Hey everyone! DJ Damashii here, host of The Dancing Dreamers with DJ Damashii on @MSP-Waves Radio! I'm here today to talk to you all about a new initiative that I am launching, which aims to bring more EDM enthusiasts to the Steem blockchain. I'm calling it the #RavingThroughSteem initiative.

Why #RavingThroughSteem? Well, anyone who has ever been to an EDM festival knows that the money that goes into such an activity is no paltry sum. Many people I've talked to over the past few months about raving, have said that they would love to check it out someday but they don't have the money for that kind of stuff.

This used to also be a big problem for me, until I discovered Steemit and started posting on this amazing platform. For the past 3-4 months or so, I have managed to fully fund all of my raving activities through the money that I have earned on Steemit. My trip to California for Escape: Psycho Circus last October was partially funded through Steem/SBD and partially funded through my day job, but after that, my attendance at all the other festivals and shows that I've gone to over the past few months have been funded completely through my earnings on Steemit.

Steemit has been such a blessing to me on all fronts, not just with my raving life, but I must say that raving is the one thing that I have spent the most Steem on so far. And I want to share that kind of success with other people to help them fund their desire to go to raves/EDM festivals.

The Plan

So, here's what I want/plan to do: ideally, if I can manage to raise enough funds for this venture (either through direct donations, through post payouts, or a combination of both), I want to start buying an extra ticket to the shows and festivals that I go to so that I can host giveaways from time to time on my weekly radio show. There are multiple reasons behind my thought process for this.

First, hosting the giveaways on my radio show will (hopefully) grow the audience of my show and also the general reach of @MSP-Waves Radio.

Second, getting outside participation (outside as in people who aren't on Steemit yet) in my radio show will hopefully at least pique a real interest in Steemit for those who are still not on the blockchain.

Third, hosting giveaways like this will hopefully serve as proof of the utility of Steem, for those who are still on the fence about it and unsure of whether or not they should even try their hand at making a name for themselves on this awesome platform.

Fourth, for the shows and festivals that are local to Utah, I plan on using these giveaways to provide additional support for the local talents, who are typically ignored by people when they get the chance to perform for us. "Oh it's just the local acts, we don't have to get there early" is a mindset/mentality that I am trying to combat here, because Salt Lake City is full of so much amazing talent (like Z&Z and ATL, who I know can and will really make it big someday). To do this, one of the conditions that I will set for these local giveaways is that the winner must meet me at the venue when the doors open to get their ticket. Hopefully this will foster some desire to check the local talents out in their opening sets.

Fifth, doing these giveaways will hopefully serve as a testament to using Steem to fund one's raving activities. For everyone who wins a giveaway, I plan to go over all things Steemit with them and explain how they can get started on the blockchain and begin to fund their own raving activities through Steem. Hence the #RavingThroughSteem hashtag.

The Execution

This weekend, we have an EDM festival taking place here in Salt Lake City, called Get Lucky. It is a two-day adventure filled with tons of dubstep on the first day and tons of trance on the second day. Datsik headlines Friday, and Above & Beyond headlines on Saturday.

Because I really want to try to get this initiative off the ground, I plan on using the current funds in my Steemit account to purchase an extra ticket for Saturday, the day of the Above & Beyond/Anjunabeats takeover. Ideally, I would have wanted to buy another full 2-day pass, but unfortunately I currently do not have the funding to spare for such an experience without depleting my Steemit account balance too much...but Saturday will be just as awesome as Friday!

Anyway, for my show tomorrow night, I will announce the giveaway in my promo post, and I will promote that post across all social media sites that I am involved in, with a focus on Utah-based groups, which will hopefully cause more local people to tune in.

I have not yet decided on the specific criteria behind the giveaway, but that will definitely get developed as I test the waters to see if this initiative even has a chance of succeeding. Whoever wins the giveaway will have to meet me in person at The Great Saltair when the doors open to receive their ticket to Get Lucky. I will have no other conditions for handing the ticket over to them, but it is my fervent hope that they will at least check out the local talents once they get in. Z&Z will be one of those local talents opening on Saturday, and I hope that lots of people will be there to support them.

Going forward, in order to not deplete my own Steemit account balance, I will hopefully be making enough money through my posts (and/or through direct donations from my fellow Steemians) to continue to host giveaways. If I "Get Lucky" (lol) and my show audience grows and my post payouts grow as well, hopefully I'll be able to do even bigger giveaways to bigger EDM festivals, such as the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas and Electric Forest in Rothbury, Michican.

For the sake of transparency, of course, I will be making posts to announce giveaway winners, which will include proof of Steem funds withdrawal all the way to ticket purchase and confirmation of giveaway. Should I be lucky enough to have anyone decide to donate funds directly to the initiative, this will hopefully quell any doubts or fears that I'm just going to run off with your money and spend it all on something else.

The Help: Why I Need YOU

If this #RavingThroughSteem initiative is to be successful, I'm going to need your help with getting the word out. I hope you will consider upvoting this post and resteeming it to all of your followers so that this new initiative to get more ravers on Steemit will have a real shot at spreading like wildfire.

I'm not the richest person on Steemit, so I'm not sure I can continue to do this giveaway for too long if the word doesn't spread and my posts don't start making more money. But I would certainly like to continue doing this giveaway for as long as I possibly can. Hopefully it will become a staple of my radio show, if I can get enough support behind this initiative.

Please also reach out specifically to anyone you know on Steemit who is into EDM and let them know about this new initiative to grow the EDM community on the Steem blockchain! Together, we can all start #RavingThroughSteem!

See you all tomorrow night for the TENTH episode of The Dancing Dreamers with DJ Damashii! We're going to be celebrating it in fashion with this giveaway...so I hope you will be there!

DJ Damashii, out.

This sounds like a project that will help the whole community on steemit. To think in the future ravers will be trading steem, maybe even paying the Dj. haha what a dream, you always pay the Dj last.

Thank you, I really hope that it takes off and proves to be a successful initiative!

Resteemed. Love the project and want to see more ravers on there. Hopefully I'll run into you at one of these (skipping EDC this year). If you're ever in NYC I got your ticket to a local one.

Hell yeah, thank you so much for the resteem! I, too, hope to see more ravers on here...I'm gonna start out small and try to build the community up from the locals here in SLC but if this initiative really takes off and proves to be a successful venture, I'm really hoping that I can someday afford to do giveaways to EDC and whatnot :P Then we will really see Steemit take off among ravers haha. I'll definitely let you know if I'm ever out your way! I might try to make it out for EZoo's 10th anniversary but I'm not sure yet.

Come to New York! Awesome post 💞😍

I shall, someday... :P

This is rad! I would love to do this over here in BC, we got some rad festivals and a serious festival culture going on.

I would also like to get my friends who host raves on a smaller skill fund the actual event, because it is suprisingly expensive haha, and more funding for events means bigger and better events for us locals. How cool would that be, if we had such a thriving EDM community that people could actually contribute to the rave scene by funding the raves and getting tickets?

Thank you so much, @skycae! I'd love to hear more about the festival culture up in your area sometime. Would you perhaps be willing to come on my radio show one of these weeks to tell us all about it?

That is definitely a dream of mine, and that's why I've begun to really up my efforts to bring more ravers onto Steemit. I really want to grow the EDM community on here. :P
