Grumpycat Wiping Out Innocent Minnows and Admits To Censoring Us! Please Help Spread The Word!

@grumpycat usually hides behind the loose guise of being a hero. A hero that fights against bidbot abuse. He uses a cat we all love, funny pictures and all, to dampen the effect of his antics on unassuming Steemians. Oh and look! The cute little dog @madpuppy!

Both accounts kind of came out of nowhere, fully equipped with an insane amount of Steem power and account value. @grumpycat put pressure on bidbots, demanding them to adhere to a 3.5 day rule. Most of the bidbots cowered to his demands, but some have not. He downvotes and flags Steemians who use these bots.

Here's the catch: He's a blatant, reckless bully, and his actions make no sense.

He has no conscience and has no qualms downvoting quality posts. Recently a @youarehope charity post, an introduction post, and the leader of #thealliance @enginewitty's posts. (We at #thealliance pride ourselves on quality, and he seems to have waged war with several of us.) This feral "cat" uses no discretion, if someone uses the wrong bidbot, they are fair game. He also upvotes his own comments. Bit of a contradiction there, eh? Not to mention he used @madpuppy to pay bidbots for @grumpycat's most recent post.

I could go on and on about his inconsistencies.

I'm really here today to update you on a couple of things he has done that should have every Steemian concerned though.

He used his @madpuppy account to crush the posts of popular Pimp Your Post Thursday host @shadowspub WHEN SHE DIDN'T EVEN USE A BIDBOT!!

This is dangerous to all Steemians!!

He also admitted to censoring us.

@theresistance discord group has a general area where everyone is welcome. Sometimes @grumpycat actually drops by and taunts us. Today a member of our group tried to come to a ceasefire with @grumpycat, but @grumpycat chose to stay vindictive. Then @grumpycat was asked why he attacks some people at 1% and others at 100%.

His cold and short response: "Taste of censorship."

See the proof here:

Anyone who has even the slightest glimpse of reason has to know that @grumpycat isn't here to fight spam! He's destroying talented people's accounts, and destroying our morale!

Maybe you're indifferent now, but I'd like you to consider this quote by Holocaust survivor Martin Niemoller:
20180415213948.jpg

Am I comparing @grumpycat to Hitler? Doesn't that seem like a bit of a stretch?

Well yes and maybe. History shows us that with censorship comes loss of freedom, and with loss of freedom comes loss of life. We don't know the true forces, intentions or origins of the multiple people behind these two accounts.

My point is, if we refuse to fight against @grumpycat now, he will just get more powerful and out of control.

We need our whales and witnesses to send a strong message to him and tell him that this is not acceptable behavior on the Steemit platform! We need to band together and put him in his place. People have tried reasoning with him, but he shows no sign of changing!

Please consider joining forces with us in #theresistance. Become a freedom fighter against @grumpycat and @madpuppy! The invite to our discord group is here

Please help spread the news about these atrocities!

We need to get the word out about what he's doing!

Thanks for reading!

Love, snowpea ❤

Admits To Censoring Us!

A taste mean just that, a taste.

I guess you had no idea that the people who got flagged had given their Steem keys to a bot that has been autoflaging all my comments and is too dumb to tell between reward countering and censoring.

If you had scrolled up one page you would have had known why.

My point is, if we refuse to fight against @grumpycat now, he will just get more powerful and out of control.

???

What do you expect @grumpycat, you drew first blood and we're trying to stop you from hurting people. Did you expect that you could just go around downvoting innocent minnows all the time and that people were just going to ignore you?

@grumpycat you didn't left any option for us. You are not hearing to us and not doing anything which is helpful for minnows. Do something good for minnows and I will log out myself from the bot. Deal?

If you didn't understand where the problem was it might be because a hate group #theresistance founded by the owner of @sneaky-ninja aka. @michaeldavid tried to divert your attention for his financial gain and to keep stroking his stubbornness.

You can count me out. The 2 accounts you mention here are not the only accounts unfairly destroying others and the community doesn't give a hoot. As a result I will no longer contribute my best work; I switched to pictures instead of the music videos that took days to edit, often keep a rolling power down and invested in other platforms. The world is full of robbers and thieves, if I also have to worry about fellow steemians permanently flagging my account for no good reason with multiple (14) bots, I have to question myself for wanting to be here. Getting me to participate in certain actions to get my account off the bots is extortion. Nice huh?

Started working on a full length movie in March; save for a few snap shots, guess which platform is NOT getting any of it.

I hope some folks start to grasp what some of the barriers are to getting diverse content. I will never again risk getting something I worked on for more than 15 seconds, flagged by some whale with long toes and a bad attitude.

As far as I'm concerned, the whales can have this platform all to themselves and spend their days up voting their own shitposts. In the mean time I will follow their example. Greetings.

You have many valid points. Patreon is a safer network it seems for growing a genuine fanbase. While bots are sometimes abused by a few people, I still feel they're voluntary exchanges of currency. And to get downvoted for using bots often takes away what was spent out of pocket, not just profit. So it's like someone standing outside of a coffee shop and hitting down patrons food to the ground after they exit--- as a lesson not to buy donuts there?

And then the random downvoting makes no sense at all.

Everyone here agrees that Steemit needs more investors, but do they just expect them to get an account and then walk away??? No. They'll want to use their account.

Nothing in the FAQ says, "Warning. People with more money in their accounts are more powerful here and can and will use that power to consume your entire account."

When your bandwidth is done, you can't even login to get your own money.

It's a bit insane. And according the whitepaper, Steemit takes the position to not get involved in such matters. Ctrl+F the whitepaper for the word "crab"

Eventually word will get out and when there are enough of them, the platform could find itself with an image problem and this is bad for business. Maybe that is the point at which Steemit will get involved.

Greetings!

Greetings. I think the secondary more subtle conundrum is that those helping save the new accounts from the bully accounts, don't always favor common business practice either and would rather it be like a social network where people all get a fair share for just existing.

Mentality One:
The reward pool is no ones so first/fastest/smartest to get it, wins. First come first serve competition.

Mentality Two
The reward pool is everyone's so everyone should only take the bare minimal or none and have their entire investment invested for the good of the whole community at large (including mentality one)

Thought provoking.

Mentality Me:
This is super weird.

A rolling powerdown is where I either power back up what becomes available every week, or move it elsewhere depending on how I feel about Steemit. I also invested in other crypto currencies like BTC, that money could have been invested in Steem, but it wasn't, ..and at this rate it won't be.

I did not know what you meant by a rolling power down and now I know, but I referred mainly to this part:

invested in other platforms

Which platforms are there to invest in?

Mithril, Synereo, EOS, Lunyr and there are a few others coming up.

Mithril, Synereo, EOS, Lunyr and there are a few others coming up.

I thank you for these.
Are they all social networks with financial rewards like steemit?
Which ones of them are already active?
Or is waiting for them to become active a miss of an opportunity similar to premining?
Would love to know about the few others and where can I gather such information myself.

These 2 are active, check out their sites. Synereo has a YT video explaining what is a similar idea to Steemit: https://www.synereo.com/
Mithril is unique in that it also tries to involve a group of merchants that will accept their token rather than dealing with an exchange: https://mith.io/

I have not found a centralized place to find these, I find these by reading a lot of Steemit posts, and if one sounds interesting I check it out. There is no way of knowing how they will do in the future, even Steemit has not surpassed 1 Million users yet, so it's a little early to make comparisons with the newcomers, some will last, but I expect most will not.

I checked it about a month ago, and could not find how to register there.
It seemed like an advertisement only page, a promo.
Is registration free there? Should I have ETC or EOS to get in there?

What about bitcointalk.org?
I believe it is where most of the whales were notified about STEEM premining.

hmmm..the cat and dog accounts are the self-righteous person here in the community.
hiding from cat and dog profile is a coward act.
show your true face. let your intention are to be true.
not acting like police in this community.

As far as I can tell the only thing this Salty Cat really want's to do is wallow in it's own self importance at the expense of others.

Wow @c0ff33a! Thank you so much for the bidbot boost! It is much appreciated!! And you are so right about the grump.

I mentioned something about that the other day how leading by fear causes resentment and dismay. Not to mention full on anger. Justice cometh soon enough.

You make a very good point, yet unfortunately for many, the fear overpowers these emotions. Not with us though!

You know, aside from a few suck-up for votes lametards, I don't and haven't seen much vocalized support for what he is doing. One would think that would be sufficient enough, for a person with even a lower level IQ, to re-evaluate their posture.

I pretty much have lost hope of whales doing anything ... that being said it does not mean that we should not stand against the cat, it is just the usual thing -there is no hero coming so roll up the sleeves and slap cat butt!

Yeah, you're probably right... I guess whales turning a sympathetic ear to us would be the most efficient way to stop him, but they don't care about us. I still feel the need to try and reach them though just in case lol. :)

@snowpea;
Thank you for the "Cry Freedom"!
This is what we all need.

Thank you for doing your part to make steemit a better place.

Trust me, I'm a doctor.

History shows us that with censorship comes loss of freedom

Except that hiding a post by means of flags, as @grumpycat does, is not censoring. The Steem blockchain is resilient to censorship and only the authors of posts can delete their own posts (within 7 days of creation). Nobody can censor on the Steem blockchain, your post is never gone unless you delete it yourself.

We should really stop throwing words such as censorship, or even comparisons with Hitler, round too loosely.

People who have ever been that unlikely to truly have been censored, and the victims of nazisms, deserve more respec that everyone crying they are being censored because their post's rewards were lowered.

Censorship is something totally different.

Luckily, you aren't being censored and we all pride ourselves operating on a censorship resilient platform like Steem.

Maybe it was insensitive to compare @grumpycat to Hitler. I don't know. The quote was fitting for what I was trying to say, and therefore I had to compare him to Hitler. My thought in writing that is that people too often, time and time again throughout history, ignore a bully until it's too late, and they are a victim themselves.

censorship
ˈsensərSHip/Submit
noun

the suppression or prohibition of any parts of books, films, news, etc. that are considered obscene, politically unacceptable, or a threat to security.

He may not be prohibiting them, but I'm sure he would if given a chance. At the very least he is suppressing the posts he deems unfit.

He is changing their rewards. Not suppressing them.

If I recall well he even doesn’t support voting below $0 (I may be wrong tho and he may not be consistent in his claims).

Even if voted below zero everything is still only one click away and not suppressed either.

While I disapprove of the fear he instilled and his added laziness to not focus on $hitposts but instead picks on everyone, I am not sure I disapprove of his fight. Bid bots are a way of gaming the pool, rewarding bid bot operators twice btw, and I honestly can not wait until the day they will not exist. But that will never happen.

I think he would be applauded if he would focus on shitposts instead, no matter how arbitrarily that would still be.

Stay strong and fight the fight for those we became collateral damage. 👊

*reckless

Bidbots are not Steem Pope approved, but malicious flags are not suitable either.

Oops, thank you!

I see you edited your comment. The flags on our end are not malicious. He thinks he can go around hurting people all the time, and we are doing everything in our power to stop him.
