I know how I feel when I see creative works that amaze me; I most times wonder if I could ever be as creative. Notice how I didn’t say “talented”?

Many people assume that creativity is all about talent and might probably think that some people were just fortunate enough to be endowed with creative abilities but the truth is that creativity is a skill that can be developed.

How?

You will discover some weird things you can try out to develop your creativity.

Creativity can be defined as the ability to see relationships where none existed.

1. Laugh Out Loud A Lot!

If this doesn’t sound weird to you, then you must be a creative genius. If you are an ordinary human like me, then you must be wondering how laughing a lot would help you become more creative. Apparently, laughing has been shown to help people think more broadly, associate freely, and notice complex relationships.

It will be interesting to see if I can get a volunteer to put this theory to test.

2. Breathe With Only Your Left Nostril!

Yes, you read that correctly. And while you are at it, jump up and down on your left leg, and write with your left hand! You might be wondering why; I was in your shoes too! So it turns out that the right side of our brain is what can be called our creativity center. Also, this right side of the brain controls the left side of the body. So a way to activate your creativity center will be to engage the left parts of your body.

But does this mean that lefties are always creative? 🤔

3. Play With Lots Of Toys!

Kids have been found to be very creative for different reasons; for one, they are not afraid and don’t hold back from exploring. Playing children are said to be really good at making new connections. When you play, your mind can wander and your subconscious has time to work. Video games could be very helpful also as they have a way of forcing your brain to come up with tactics to win the game.

Could this be why many tech startups have toys littered around their offices? 🤔
