A Few of My Thoughts

in #thoughts7 years ago

I'm still currently trying to figure out exactly how I'd like to use Steemit as a whole. I see a lot of people using it as a general board posting medium, I see others using it as a full on blog, others a news site, and even still I see a lot of easily made comparisons to my own first experiences on the internet. (Chans, Photobucket, Livejournal, Forums, Clanbattles, Game Cheat Forums) So, I'm left looking at this whole ecosystem of uses and niches and I'm just left asking, "where do I fit in?"

I, of course, have wanted to be a content creator for as long as I can remember and the concepts of a tight knit community are always appealing, but just following through some of the thoughts behind all of that sometimes makes me feel personally exhausted and almost put off by the same thing I believe I want. At the same time I see this amazing opportunity in front of me if I can only figure out exactly what that is. Do I want to delve down the cryptocurrency trading rabbit hole? Do I want to browse content made by others as though I'm in a museum and remain quiet while appreciating everything?

Which leaves me somewhat where I am now. I realize I just don't know enough about a plethora of things nor do I really know how to easily gather the experience or information to feel comfortable making a decisive choice one way or another. Which pushes me to several talking points, I suppose.
What is your goal or niche within the Steem community? Are you here to browse, make money, find a community, create content, connect with people?
How do you feel about the community as a place for acquiring general knowledge, is it better to browse pages, ask for help, try to connect with certain people and use their "expertise"?
And aside from the potentially lofty discussion points and implications of statements like "why am I or you here", am I alone in this feeling of indecision on how best to approach this newly shaping platform?

I'll try to follow this up as best I can later. I think to some degree just being able to put these thoughts down has rather cathartic for me. I really do hope to have a nice follow up if anyone else finds this interesting or they're able to relate.

I also figured a posed picture of myself acting like an idiot would be pretty applicable given the Socratic Method style of my post, plus who doesn't enjoy clicking articles with loosely related thumbnails?
